The violation of the sixth commandment is a complete disregard for the value of human life. As one of the Ten Commandments, God prohibits any unlawful taking of one's own or another human's life. There are many ways that this commandment is applied including sinful attitudes of the heart. Thankfully, God even saves wretched murderers.

After God destroys the whole earth by way of the flood, He enters into a covenant with creation. God promises to never again destroy the earth on a global scale until the final judgment. With the re-creation after the flood, God gives Noah the creation mandate to be fruitful and multiply and institutes proper justice for anyone who does not hold dearly to the sanctity of life.

As his defense, Paul recounts important events of his life before King Agrippa. Paul highlights that he is on trial for preaching the resurrection, which is something the Pharisees believe. But the Pharisees don't view Jesus of Nazareth as the risen Messiah. Paul recounts how the risen Jesus appeared before him to set him apart to be the apostle to the Gentiles.

After Peter preaches at Pentecost, the hearers are cut to the heart by the Spirit over the fact that they crucified the Christ. Peter indicates that they must repent and be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Those who received the word were baptized and added to the church. The believers of the early church held fast to biblical preaching and demonstrated love toward one another.

After Paul explains to the Corinthians that he does not lose heart, he goes on to describe his hope for the heavenly body. The body that believers have now is an earthly body that is decaying. But Paul longs for the transformation of the earthly body into a heavenly body. Though believers do not yet have the heavenly body, God has given the down payment of the Holy Spirit. Though a believer's life may be one of toil, we do not need to lose hope because Christ is our pledge in heaven of this heavenly body.

In Acts 25, Paul's case is reopened by the new governor Festus. The Jews try to have Paul brought to Jerusalem in order to kill him, but Festus adheres to Roman Law and tries Paul in Caesarea. The key theme throughout this section, and the broader section, is the innocence of Paul both according to Jewish Law and Roman Law. But God uses the unusual means of imprisonment to bring Paul to Rome.

Jesus asserts that he is the Good Shepherd who lays down his life. There are many shepherds who only care for themselves, but Christ loves and knows his sheep with an eternal love. Christ voluntarily lays down his life at the command of the Father showing that salvation is a work of the Triune God.

John continues his vision of the New Heavens and the New Earth, which is the New Jerusalem. This is the wedding day, when Christ's bride city is adorned by the bridegroom. There is no need for a physical temple because the Lamb is the temple. There is no need for the sun because God's glory illuminates it. This is what Christ earned for his people- unbroken communion with God in a place where there is no night.

After God promises to be with Jacob, Jacob finally arrives as his destination. He meets Rachel, his future wife, and is brought into the household of Laban, his uncle. But Laban is more deceptive than Jacob and dupes Jacob into working an extra seven years for Rachel as he initially gives Leah to Jacob instead of Rachel. But God is with Jacob and brings about the promise despite Laban's wickedness.

As John comes to the end of his prologue, he identifies Jesus Christ with the Word who is God. This Word become flesh and tabernacled among his people. The second person of the Trinity assumed human nature in order that man might dwell with God. If someone wishes to see the glory of God, they can only see it in the God-man, Jesus Christ.
