After Jacob completes his fourteen year contract with Laban, he requests to leave and return to his land. Laban wants Jacob to stay and Jacob and Laban strike a deal. After being duped by Laban, Jacob gets the better of him this time as God causes Jacob to prosper with a strong flock.

After Paul starts the letter by blessing the Triune God, he then applies what it is said to his prayers for the Ephesians. His hope for them is that God the Father would grant them a deeper knowledge, by the Spirit, of the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ's power is seen in the resurrection from the dead and His current session at the right hand of the Father. This is where Christ rules and reigns over His Church.

As Paul continues his introductory blessing, he focuses in on the work of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit takes the benefits Christ has purchased and then applies them to believers in history. Gifts like faith, adoption, and the promise of redemption are granted by the Spirit. Moreover, each and every believer has the Holy Spirit dwelling in them as a seal for the day of redemption.

The Particular Baptist movement emerged in history during the Puritan era in England during the 17th Century. During this time, the Particular Baptists, like their Presbyterian and Congregationalist brothers, sought to write confessions, or summaries, of what they believe. During an era of persecution, the Second London Baptist Confession was written in 1677 to show unity with the other Puritans.

In the final sign in John's gospel, Jesus demonstrates that He is the Resurrection and the Life by raising Lazarus from the dead. But Martha does not know this plan but believes that Jesus is the Christ. She questions Jesus about why he didn't come, but Jesus assures her that He is the Resurrection and the Life. He is the source of life and everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life.

Paul praises God the Father for the accomplished work of God the Son. Believers find redemption and the forgiveness of sins in Christ's accomplishment, which was planned in eternity. This plan was the one purposed so that in history Jesus might unite all things in Him.

In Acts 28, God fulfills His promise to Paul by bringing him to Rome. Though God was with him, Paul faced near shipwreck, plots to kill him, and snake bites. After arriving at Rome, the book of Acts ends with Paul persuading the Jewish leaders about the kingdom of God.

After the deception of Laban, Moses records how the twelve tribes of Israel came to be. Through the struggle and conniving of sisters, God continues to fulfill the promises that he made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Despite the sinfulness of Jacob, Leah, and Rachel, this section is filled with God's grace and mercy.

After Paul give his typical greeting to the saints at Ephesus, he then blesses God the Father for the spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ. The key reminder throughout this section is that it was God's initiative in the plan to save sinners. God blesses- God chooses- God predestines. He does all this according to the good pleasure of His will.

In Acts 27, Luke, as an eyewitness, gives an account of Paul's tumultuous voyage to Rome. After a making it through one leg of the journey, Paul gives a warning about the seriousness of sailing in winter. The centurion does not heed his warning and it leads to chaos and destruction as the ship spends many days in the eye of the storm. Though all hope was given up, Paul assures the crew members that his God has promised to protect their lives, which He does. The God of the Bible does what He says He will do.
