In this chapter, Prabhuji started speaking from the first verse of the second chapter of Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 1. The class began with an explanation of the six questions asked by Saunaka Rsi and the others. They addressed their questions to Sri Suta Gosvami. An outline of the questions has been given in the description of the previous class (the Bhagavatam class on June 20).

An explanation of the answer in regard to the last question was given. The last question was, "Where has dharma taken shelter now that Krsna has departed to His eternal abode?"

Prabhuji then explained how it is imperative for an ideal disciple to understand the real purpose behind the disappearance of the Guru-varga. We were told on how the Guru-varga's presence makes a sadhaka perform all his services. Any negligence of their presence will prove detrimental to a sadhaka's sadhana.

Suta Gosvami became very happy upon listening to these questions of the sages. We were told that the entire 12 cantos of the Bhagavatam are an explanation to these questions. Suta Gosvami explained sambandha, abhideya, and prayojana while answering these questions.

In this class, Prabhuji started speaking from the sixth verse of the second chapter of Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 1. At the start of the class, Prabhuji spoke on how the instructions of an unenlightened soul will not provide as much help as the conditioned souls need. Therefore, his advice, instructions, and orders will not help one become detached from this world and cross maya.

We were told on how a sadhaka becomes qualified upon proper surrender to Sri Guru-Vaisnavas. This qualification will enable the sadhaka to relish the nectarean mellows of love of Godhead. Throughout the class, Prabhuji explained how Suta Gosvami glorified his Gurudeva (Sri Sukadeva Gosvami) and his Parama Gurudeva (Srila Vyasadeva). This sloka was the essence of Suta Gosvami's glorification of his Gurus:

yam pravrajantam anupetam apeta-krtyam

dvaipayano viraha-katara ajuhava

putreti tan-mayataya taravo 'bhinedus

tam sarva-bhuta-hrdayam munim anato 'smi

[“Srila Suta Gosvami said: ‘Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto that great sage Sukadeva Gosvami, who can enter the hearts of all. When he went away to take up the renounced order of life (sannyasa), leaving home without undergoing reformation by the sacred thread or the ceremonies observed by the higher castes, his father, Srila Vyasadeva, fearing separation from him, cried out, "O my son!" Indeed, only the trees, which were absorbed in the same feelings of separation, echoed in response to the begrieved father.’ ” (Srimad-Bhagavatam, 1.2.2)]

This audio file contains an English translation of hari-katha spoken in Hindi. Prabhuji had Rasik Mohan Prabhu speak on the glories of Sri Jagannatha Snana-yathra in Hindi. Prabhu spoke on many histories of Jagannatha's appearance.

In this class, he explained the reason behind Srila Parama Gurudeva's (Srila Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Gosvami Maharaja)decision to establish a temple (Sri Kesavaji Gaudiya Matha) in Mathura. The separation of Krsna from the Vrajavasis was then described.

The class proceeded with a description of how the Vrajavasis met Krsna at Kuruksetra during the solar eclipse. Nanda Baba promised to take Krsna back to Vraja. When the Dvarakavasis argued, the many Rsis present, decided to arrive to a particular decision. Gargacarya then spoke of how Vasudeva Maharaja should return Nanda Baba's daughter to him (he had switched the babies in Gokula immediately after Krsna's birth).

The deceitful behavior of Padma, the mother of Kamsa, was described. She spoke very offensively about the Vrajavasis.

Bhagavati Paurnamasi took it upon herself to bring Krsna to Vraja. Therefore, she became Subhadra Devi and was the first to depart on her chariot. Baladeva Prabhu follows her in His chariot. Krsna (Jagannatha) then readies Himself to go to Vraja. The reason behind Krsna's appearance as Jagannatha was described.

Unable to tolerate the separation of Srimati Radharani, and all the Vrajavasis, Krsna manifested a melted form (Jagannatha). Baladeva Prabhu and Subadhra Prabhu also did the same.

In this class, Prabhuji started speaking from the fifth verse of the first chapter from Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 1. This chapter mainly pertains to the six questions that Saunaka Rsi and the others asked Suta Gosvami. These six questions are:

1. What is the absolute and ultimate good (sreyah) for people in general?

2. What is the essence of all scriptures?

3. For what reason did the Lord take His birth from Devaki?

4. Tell us of the acts the Lord performs in relationship to creating the material world?

5. Describe the activities of the incarnations of the Lord.

6. Where have religious principles gone after Krsna's disappearance from this planet?

This audio file contains an English translation of Hari-katha spoken in Hindi. In this class, Prabhuji had Giridhari Prabhu speak on the glories of the Panihati festival. Giridhari Prabhu then spoke on many glories of Srila Raghunatha Das Gosvami. We were especially reminded of Srila Raghunatha Das Gosvami's loving exchanges with Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Sri Svarupa Damodara Gosvami.

In this class, Prabhuji started speaking from the 13th chapter of Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 12. We were told on how Samadhi can be easily attained by practicing the limbs of bhakti. Otherwise, it is not possible to attain Samadhi.

The process of surrender (that leads to Samadhi) was taught by Sukadeva Gosvami from the start to the end of Srimad Bhagavatam. Prabhuji finished the 12th canto in this class.

In this class, Prabhuji started speaking from the first canto of the Srimad Bhagavatam. He spoke on the first sloka at length. This sloka contains the essence of the Srimad Bhagavatam. He then went on to describe the glories of the Srimad Bhagavatam.

The utterance of even a syllable of the Bhagavatam will ensure that the person attains Krsna-prema. Then what to speak of continuously remembering or listening to the Bhagavatam from the Bhakta-bhagavat?
