Angie Philips from the Nebraska Study Group joins us again to discuss where things are at with the anti-trans bills (LB574 and LB575), the anti-abortion bill (LB626), and the permitless conceal-to-carry gun bill (LB77). We also chat about some bills coming up this week, including making Malcolm X Day a holiday (LB53) and eliminating two year waiting Period for Nebraskans with a felony to vote (LB20). We also dive into the importance of primary elections, electing candidates who best align with our values, and recharging with self-care. Kimara Snipes has 30 years of experience organizing in the East Omaha community. She believes that no great work is done alone and collaboration is the key to movement building. When she is not working, she serves as President of the South Omaha Neighborhood Alliance on multiple boards, including Voices for Children and Together. She supports nonprofits and businesses with stakeholder engagement, insight gathering, and organizational and project design.
