In this episode, I remember to show you the finished green shawl! I also talk about my 3-year anniversary with PLY Magazine. And since it’s the season for gift knitting, I have several finished objects and more projects on the needles to talk about. I also have some upcoming plans for my booth space for Round Table Yarns at DFW Fiber Fest. And although it didn’t make it into the video (the segment didn’t record; oops!), I do want to remind you about the Q4 KAL/CAL, so be sure to participate in that if you have a literary-themed shawl you are working on.

In this episode, I share a recent Instagram post from Yarn Carnival, who had such a terrible experience at a show in the NW (“you’re from Texas where it’s super hot, so what do you know about knitting?”) that she’s been compelled to start a movement supporting the Texas fiber community. I also have two questions from the Ravelry podcast forum that I answer (about knitCompanion and about storing yarn in hanks vs. cakes). I share my knitting progress (including a new project) and a tiny bit of stashing. For dyeing, I talk about what a Quest colorway means and share some recent dye experiments, especially using a technique called overdyeing. And finally, I show the prize that will be given to one person who enters an FO in the Q4 KAL. (By the way, I finished the green shawl and was so happy to have it done that I completely forgot that I haven’t shown the finished shawl to you guys yet. Sorry! Will be sure to do that in the next epsiode.)

In this episode, I talk a little bit about history, especially the “story” aspect of the word. I share my progress on the Dame Nature shawl (SO close to being finished!) and the start of a new project. I even have two finished objects! A little stashing, and the exciting news about the new yarn club for Round Table Yarns. Wall-E makes quite a few appearances, with Eva around a bit as well.

In this episode, I share the shirt that a friend recently got me as a gift and do a little “shaming” of myself for the finishing (or lack thereof) on some recent shawl projects. Along with sharing my knitting and dyeing progress, I also talk about two books I’ve read recently. One led me to write a short essay of my own (which I read in this episode) and the other has led me to creating a list of books I want to read.

In this episode, I have sad news about Sam. I do have a fair amount to say about knitting and dyeing, but the last third of the episode is about what happened to Sam as well as sharing how he came to be part of our family.

In this episode, I talk about the knitting slump I’ve been in lately and why I think I’ve been having it, which has nothing to do with the knitting itself. I did, however, switch projects for this quarter’s KAL to something that I’m feeling more excited about working on. I’ve finished a pair of socks and have been doing a lot of dyeing lately. Both Wall-E and Eva make an appearance, and although Sam isn’t on camera, there is good news about his eye.
In this episode, I discuss an article from Abby Glassenberg about the direction Etsy is going under its new CEO–a direction I think is not going to be good for handcrafted businesses. I finished my Wonder Woman Wrap, I have the sample of a new hat design finished, I’m almost finished with another project, and I started a new-ish design project (reworking of a shawl design from a few months back). I talk a little about my trunk show during the DFW Yarn Crawl and some upcoming ideas for the next yarn club and some holiday-inspired self-striping colorways. And poor Sam, although doing much better now, has given us quite a scare recently with his health.

In this episode, I talk about the musical Rent and share some reflections on the first time I listened to it (20 years ago) and my recent re-watching of the movie version. The shawl I share is my biggest design failure, and I ponder why it might have failed but also what I learned from it. My Wonder Woman Wrap is getting closer to being finished as are another pair of socks. I’ve read two really good books lately and am also listening to an old favorite.
List of Things Mentioned in the Episode
In this episode, I talk about the reading slump I’ve been in lately and some ideas I have to break out of it. I also share my completed brioche shawl and the start of a new beaded shawl. You’ll see samples of all the cowls from my new book and hear about my thoughts on the current season of Doctor Who. I have several prizes that will be going out this quarter for the KAL/CAL, so be sure to check those out and join in with us for a chance to win. At the end of the episode, I give an update on how Sam and the kittens are doing.
