Ilan Kolet joins us today for a timely discussion on tackling inflation and higher interest rates. Ilan is an Institutional Portfolio Manager in Fidelity’s Global Asset Allocation group, and he’ll share why we’re seeing the highest inflation rate since the 1980’s and looks at how inflation is likely to evolve. He notes the team is looking at changes in underlying data, what’s happening with supply chains, and the labour market including how wages affects the price of the good or service. Ilan also looks at how inflation could affect value and growth stocks differently, and how the Global Asset Allocation team builds balanced portfolios that include assets that have traditionally protected against inflation. Additionally, Ilan discusses currencies, and correlations between commodity prices and the Canadian dollar.
Recorded on March 10, 2022.
