Henry Louis Wallace, known as the "Taco Bell Strangler," was an American serial killer who murdered eleven black women in South Carolina and North Carolina between 1990 and 1994. He was convicted and sentenced to death in 1997 for nine of the murders. Wallace's crimes were particularly horrific as he often raped and strangled his victims, sometimes in front of their children. The investigation into the murders was criticized for initially failing to recognize the pattern of violence and connect the crimes to a single perpetrator. While Wallace confessed to the crimes and apologized to the families of his victims, he continues to appeal his death sentences.
