: Last December, the City of Tacoma, Washington partnered with the United Way of Pierce County to launch guaranteed income payments to more than 100 working families struggling to make ends meet. The recipients were randomly selected based on certain criteria, including earning between 100 and 200 percent of the federal poverty level and working at least one job. Each recipient receives $500 per month until November of this year, when the program is set to expire. The Growing Resilience in Tacoma guaranteed income project is being studied to examine the impact of the payments on the financial and emotional well-being of recipients like Geno Rosario, a single father and IT consultant. He joins us for this discussion, along with Abigail Lawson, the director of Growing Resilience in Tacoma.
