In our last episode, we pulled out some pieces from Scott Adam's book How To Fail At Almost Everything And Still Win Big.
Today, we are going to talk about why Adams believes that we are like 'moist robots' (I know…many people don't like that word…
Scott tells us that like a robot, we have the constant availability of being programed. He focuses on three areas that apply to all of us: Eating, Moving and Sleeping.
If you think on these three areas only, what are you doing (or not doing) that makes you feel like you are optimized in each? What is it that makes you the best at each of these three areas of your life?
What program are you running when you're running at optimal performance?
Perhaps you're counting your macros, hitting the gym X amount of days each week and getting a full 8 hours of sleep each night.
While there are factors that can throw us off track it is just as easy for us to reprogram ourselves into getting back into the swing of things so that we are where we want to be with our performance.
Tune in as Coach Ashlie Walton and Detective Walton discuss ways to give yourself a software upgrade.

Are goals for losers?
Scott Adam's says so and today, we are going to discuss some of his wisdom from his book How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still WIN BIG.
Following the theme of our last episode, we have to decide what it is that we want to work on in our life.
Once we decide on what the one thing is that we want to work towards and we get clear on the path that we will take…
It's time to start paying the price.
Adams tell us that there is a way for us to make the price of having the things that we want cost less.
His suggestion? Systems.
Scott argues that goals are always in a far-off place that we may never get to but if we have a system in place then we are constantly winning.
Wanting to lose 20 pounds is a goal and eating right is a system that we can put in place to achieve that goal. See the difference?
You can't 'do' a goal on a regular basis but you can do a system on a regular basis. This is the key that most people miss and the reason why a majority of people fail at things like their New Year's Resolutions.
The great words of John Maxwell echoes this when he said, 'Systems are good strategies repeated.'
Tune in as Coach Ashlie Walton and Detective Walton break this down further.

Have you ever watched someone drop their phone face-down and when they pick it up, the entire screen is a shattered mess?
While we don't like to see this sort of misfortune happen to anyone, we don't like it even more when it happens to us.
In today's episode, Coach Ashlie Walton and Detective Walton discuss a technique that you can use the next time that you find yourself dealing with a breakup, mistake or any other type of upset in your life.
By using the process of projective visualization, we can develop a technique called witness perspective.
This one is a total game changer.

Hedonic adaptation is an aspect of life that nearly nobody talks about and yet, it's something that we all seem to fall victim to sooner or later.
Essentially, hedonic adapting means that we get used to the good things that we have in our life.
In today's episode, Coach Ashlie Walton and Detective Walton discuss how vision boards and the law of attraction is great…
But that there's a way to level this up a bit through the process of negative visualization.
Tune in for a lesson on how to gain a deeper appreciation for the things that you hold dearest to you in your life.

I'll bet you already know this…
But the definition of hope essentially means that you have a belief that your future can be better than your present.
Hope gives us vitality and purpose gives us hope. When we have this combination, we have energy and that is the reason having a 'why' is so important.
Despite this knowledge, it is not uncommon for us to find ourselves feeling down in the dumps.
Perhaps today's episode will change that.
Scientists from John's Hopkins did an amazing study on hope in the 1950's that involved drowning lab rats in order to learn more about hope. Poor little guys…
Tune in as Coach Ashlie and Detective Walton share the incredible findings from this study and how lab rats might just change your perspective the next time that things begin to feel dark.

It's likely that you know someone who suffers from alcoholism and perhaps it is you yourself who does.
While we don't cause harm to those that we care about intentionally, it is possible that there are times when inadvertent harm is caused based on a lack of understanding the context. Let's sift through this.
(Here's a great book called If You Loved Me, You'd Stop! What You Really Need to Know When Your Loved One Drinks too Much)
A lot of people have vices in life that they aren't proud of and even keep secret from the rest of the world.
In today's episode, Coach Ashlie Walton and Detective Walton discuss the difference between pleasing versus serving someone. Together, we'll dive into learning how to distinguish between the two so that your behavior is on part with your values.
Whether we are discussing police work or your relationships with friends and family, it is important to know and understand the difference between serving and pleasing someone.

Do you remember the childhood fable that shared with us the story about The Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs?
If you are anything like me, it took listening to the story again to remember what the true lessons were.
I always thought that it was a story shared that would allow us to become more thankful for the things that we had as well as to know that good things in life take time.
But there's a part of the nursery story that you may not have listened to before and it's one that can help with stress management.
Tune in as Coach Ashlie Walton and Detective Walton share a new take on how The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs applies directly to your life.

Do you remember when hip hop music made way for profanity to become a part of normal language? While it might have seemed to have started later, it actually began in the early 1980's. It certainly makes me appreciate modern artists like Tom MacDonald who point out the damage that this has caused.
Over time, it started to feel less offensive and 'cooler' to call and be called words like a bitch.
My seven-year-old nephew shocked me at the Thanksgiving dinner table this year by referring to everyone as 'bro.'
Tune in as Coach Ashlie Walton and Detective Walton discuss why the words that we use matter…
And how using the wrong words (and allowing others to refer to us by the wrong words) devalues us.

Did you know that some people think that you're going to hell for attending the circus?
If you haven't checked out the Paranormal Circus, IT IS A LOT OF FUN! Unless you're the commenter in a local Facebook Group who said that her minister said that it's satanic and that nobody should attend.
In today's episode, Coach Ashlie Walton and Detective Walton share how perspective ties directly into what we perceive as truth.
