This week, we're looking back on the presidential election. If you've been listening to this podcast lately, you know we weren't planning on participating in this election because the "vote for the lesser of two evils" theory never sat well with either of us. Now that the election is "over" and we see that our state of Georgia had a significant role in the outcome, did that change any of our pre-election feelings toward voting in this election? Actually, we went over a variety of our post-election feelings and predictions in this episode, so if politics isn't your thing, go ahead and skip this one.

This week we're talking about guns. We both have guns (one of us wants more) and thought it was interesting to find out that black Americans are buying guns at a record pace. With the presidential election two days away (as of this recording) and many people expecting some sort of violence regardless of who wins, we thought it might be a good time to talk about black people and our relationship with guns...both in the past and recently. What's the reason for the surge (like we don't already know)? Does being black in America and a gun owner make us more safe or less safe?

This week, we discussed our feelings on the American flag. Seems like everywhere we go, now, there's some white guy with a pickup truck and a HUGE American flag flying (usually with a Trump/Pence flag, as well). It's starting to feel like it's being used as a symbol of something that has nothing to do with "patriotism" and as we get closer and closer to the presidential (s)election, it seems like those same folks are not being subtle about what they feel it means to them. We didn't necessarily agree, but we did try to articulate how we felt in the moment about the American flag in the age of Trump.

This week, we're talking about Ice Cube and the Contract with Black America. Initially, we discussed how we felt about his willingness to work with the Trump or Biden camps with no regard to which is which. We ended up talking about the "outrage" and calls to "cancel" him and gave our thoughts on all of that. In a broader sense, though, we talked about celebrities and whether or not we should be looking to them for activism or guidance in general.

This week, we're talking about Jaguar Wright. It's way too much to even try to explain in this description who she is if don't already know, but basically we ended up watching a couple of interviews she did where she decided to air out some of her issues with fellow artists Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Common, The Roots, Mary J Blige...and the list goes on. Now, we don't deal in entertainment gossip, so whether or not she's telling the truth wasn't the focus of this convo. The focus of our conversation was about loyalty (or lack thereof) these days. The way we see it, much of her beef came from something we both understood and have gone through in the past and it made us wonder: Is loyalty a thing of the past? How do you move forward with your life after betrayal?

This week, we're breaking our rule about not discussing Trump. First, we sat and watched that "debate" between Trump and Biden...the entire thing. Let's just say, we have thoughts. We planned on letting those thoughts slide and focus on something else, but then Trump gets coronavirus and it was too much for us to let slide. So, this episode, we talked about our feelings on the debate and whether or not that has changed our view on voting this year. Then, we discussed Trump and his diagnoses. Is this real or is it just another tactic to try to stay in the white house?

This week, we're talking about the soon-to-come Covid-19 vaccine. There are currently over 100 different companies racing to release a vaccine and some are estimating they'll have a "vaccine" ready by the end of October...2020...We've recently come to the realization that we had Covid-19 earlier this year when doctors still thought we had a late season flu. With that being the backdrop, we asked: Do we plan on taking the Covid-19 vaccine when it's made available to the public?

This week, we're somewhat doing a movie review. If you've listened to us for a while, you know we rarely talk movies and reviews aren't our thing, but we watched Antebellum this weekend and had some thoughts on it and had to get them off of our chests. If you haven't seen it and want to, don't bother listening...there was no way to talk about this movie without spoilers. If you are the filmmakers of this movie, seriously don't listen to this...you won't like what you hear. If you're Janelle Monáe...lemonade out of lemons is basically what we saw here. If you have no plans of seeing it or have already saw it, check it out and tell us if you agree or disagree with our assessment.

This week, we're talking music. Mia had an experience where she was exposed to some (90s) hip hop she'd never really payed attention to before. She ranted on this subject before, but this experience brought it back around full circle.

This week, we're asking a question: What do you do when you've planned generational wealth for your children and they don't want it? We go more in depth in this episode about what we mean, but this was something that was on our minds recently because of a conversation today with our eldest. Admittedly, we're frustrated and it probably showed in our ranting, but with all the talk of generational wealth in the black community (with which we agree, by the way), we've never heard a contingency plan for the next generation not wanting what we're trying to force on them in the name of 'legacy'.
