This week, we reached back to a comment made by one of our family members that resurfaced in our minds after watching the recorded and seemingly unashamed ridiculousness at the capitol that was yet another reminder (in our opinions) of the vast inequality we face here in America. So, the question we posed was: Should black people give up on America and start new somewhere else at this point? Or is there valid justification to stay and fight it out here in America?

This week, we're discussing the attempted coup (let's just call it what it is) that took place on January 6th by Trump supporters. As black people in America, we had a lot of thoughts and decided to process them like we process just about everything else...by pressing "record" and doing it live. If you know us, you probably can almost predict how we felt about all this, but we felt it was necessary to have this discussion once and then move on (we briefly explain why in this episode).

This week, we're talking about something we got an opportunity to view and afterwards it brought up some questions. We watched a documentary called Mr. Soul (it was perfect in every way, in our opinion) and it told the backstory of a show we had been watching on Amazon Prime (called Soul!). Watching it made us question where we felt black art in general currently is and where we felt it was going. Could a show this unapologetically black exist today? Could/Would a show this honest ever exist again? Why does it seem like many of the black creators with large platforms water down black expression? Is it money, they don't have as much power as we like to believe or is it something else?

This week, we decided to share a story from early on in our marriage that taught us a valuable lesson. Basically, we both had/have a habit of trying to force things to happen. We both (try to) have faith in things working out the way they're supposed to, but often times we become impatient or we lose faith in the process and start to believe we control more than we actually do. So, this episode is about how we finally learned that we weren't in total control and how to let go and let God.

This week, we ended up talking about a situation that happened at our house that ultimately made us question the role of submission in a committed relationship.

This week, we started with a "simple" question: Should black people discuss our issues in public forums? The question became more complicated the more we talked about it, but the basic idea was-- Do we further empower, say, police brutality for example by laying out in a public forum our worse fears of police brutality and all of the tactics we plan to employ to combat it (i.e. defunding the police)? Should we employ more of a "house business" type of posture or should we speak truth to power no matter when, where or to whom?

This week, we're talking a little politics. We just watched a "debate" between Kelly Loeffler and Raphael Warnock and had some thoughts on it and the American political system as a whole. Though is was the original plan, it pretty much captured what we've been feeling throughout this political cycle and for the last few elections.

This week, we're talking about our individual approaches to working on speaking our minds. Although we speak our minds on this podcast, Mia has found that in her daily life, that's not been the case as often as she'd like. So, this episode ended up being a conversation about that journey.

This week, we're talking about forgiveness and/or forgetting. Most of our conversation centered around whether or not it's possible (or even healthy) to totally forget situations and people that wronged you in the past. This started with a quote that we mostly disagreed with, but we decided to talk out how we deal with family or friends that have wronged us and how we intend on getting past it.

This week, we decided to take a detour from all the craziness that's happening and talk about something a bit different for a change. We always say that people are often a collection of their past experiences. Although we always incorporate our pasts in our (recorded) live conversations, we felt like it might be a good time to give more detailed insight into some of the experiences we've had in the past that informs who we are today and influences some of the decision we currently make. There was a choice between 2 stories that came to mind...this is the one that was chosen. Enjoy (or not...it's really up to you).
