June 25, 2017Allow us to (Re)Introduce Ourselves - The Tactless Know-It-AllsSo, this week we realized we had never done an episode giving you a background on who we are and how we got to this point. We decided to clear up some things that we’ve been asked about or maybe wasn’t made clear thus far on the podcast. So sit back and listen in, we’ve got a story to tell…...more56minPlay
June 18, 2017Ain’t no Justice… It’s Just Us. - The Tactless Know-It-AllsThis weekend has been a mixed bag of bullshit. We’re discussing the completion of two trials that, on the surface, seem unrelated but after digging a bit, there are some threads that connect these two cases. The case first we discussed was the Philando Castile (murder) trial. Officer Jeronimo Yanez was found not guilty for shooting Castile seven times after Castile told the officer he was licensed to carry a weapon and had one in his pants pocket. Castile was shot while reaching for his ID after telling Yanez he had a gun permit and was armed. The second trial was the Bill Cosby case in which it was declared a mistrial. We saw the reactions splinter between people that were disgusted by the Castile verdict but simultaneously delighted by the Cosby verdict and wondered how that made any sense. We discuss it in detail in this episode....more47minPlay

June 12, 2017Marvel’s Black Panthers ‘party’! – And everyone’s invited - The Tactless Know-It-AllsThis week’s episode was inspired by the new trailer for the Marvel movie ‘Black Panther’. This was the second answer to a prayer (the first being Get Out) that went something like: Please let there be more diversity in the movies that star all ( or even mostly) black casts in the future -Amen. We then talked about what we thought led to this and what might keep the momentum going for quality movies and scripts starring people of color. That brought us to the realization of the plight of the “Underground’ is still uncertain and we offered some suggestions on where a good landing spot would be....more1h 13minPlay

June 05, 2017Nigga. Yeah, We Said It! - The Tactless Know-It-AllsThis week’s episode was inspired by Bill Maher’s comments that once again had the internet flipping out. Long story short, Bill thought it was a good idea to use the word “nigga” in a joke. The internet responded in calls for him to be fired. A few things we made very clear in this episode: #1. Neither of us are fans of his because, #2. he is regularly unfunny. This was no exception, but it did inspire us to have an open and honest conversation about the word, how we feel about its use both in the black community and outside of it. We also talked about how the word nigga has permeated popular culture and gave our opinions on the effects as we perceive it. As usual, our opinions are our own and probably won’t mesh with popular opinion, but that’s the inherent risk of being honest (and then recording it)…...more1h 20minPlay

May 29, 2017Are you a Fan Or a Stan? This week's episode explores why we ride for the people we do so hard sometimes. We quickly discussed the assessment that Kendrick Lamar's career is being assisted by the weak field of rappers in hip hop today. Then we moved on to speak on R. Kelly and what seems to be undying support for this guy regardless of what he was accused (he did that sh*t and we all know it) of and compared it to the double standard the public has for Bill Cosby and what he's accused of doing. We also threw a little O.J. Simpson in for good measure, but really what we were trying to get to the bottom of is: What determines us either condemning or supporting an artist or celebrity after they've been accused of committing a crime? Also, we tried to answer the question: Should we separate an artist from his art or are the two inseparable?...more1h 5minPlay

May 22, 2017Do The Right ThingThis week we had a disagreement while watching Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing". We decided, rather than discuss it off the mic, why not just talk it out on air and record our difference of opinion. The conversation took us from the movie to the #TakeEmDownNOLA movement. Although, I think we both agreed on the principal of organizing and accomplishing a goal, we had different takes on what the effects of the statues coming down may (or may not) mean for the future of New Orleans and, on a broader scale, this country....more1h 1minPlay
