The Interesting Health & Safety Podcast

Take The Third Seat

Listen Later

Sometimes, during interactions, we fail to identify the third-person perspective - the one from which we can see a complete conversation from the outside. In this episode, Colin talks about the value to be found in "taking the third seat" when it comes to discussions and outcomes.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • By taking an outside perspective on a conversation, we are better able to see the best outcomes for all parties.
  • If we are providing a service, gaining an understanding about how our clients feel about us during good times and bad, can make a real difference to our conversations.

BEST MOMENTS

'Try to step into the shoes of the person who's looking in from the outside'

'Is there something that we're missing?'
