Tales by the Fireside - Bedtime stories and sleep meditation

Tonight we have something a little different. When I initially started reaching out to other authors and poets to see if anyone would like to submit work to be read on the podcast, Neil Willis was among the first to make contact. A very talented poet with a very clear and infectious passion for what he writes. I am very proud to present the War Years Pentalogy, a series of poems that capture the cost of World War 1, the joy of the Roaring 20s, and then finally the heartache and romance that can be found in many stories of World War 2. I would like to sincerely thank Neil for allowing me to read his work.

Tonight is another Fireside Community Author Spotlight. I am happy to present Pirates Don't Clean their Teeth, written by Adrian Summerson. A story that shows that a little imagination, and a bit of help from your parents, can make a boring day, much more exciting. Thank you Adrian for allowing me to read this book.

Should you wish to purchase this lovely book for yourself, please contact the authors Facebook page under the same name.

Tonight, I am glad to share our first Fireside Community Author Spotlight piece. Angels in Black Park, written by Mary Crowner. This work does contain strong-ish language and adult themes, so younger listeners should steer clear.

This is Part 1 of Angels in Black Park. Part 2 is out now!

Written in 1839 by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, the Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner is a charming and interesting piece, shining a light on the ancient art of sea-faring the superstitions around it, and the joy upon a safe return home.

This is a very special episode to me. I wrote the first half of this poem at age 12, and it was a big part of why literature and language is so enthralling to me today. I came back to it in 2012 and added the second half. I offer this up to you now and sincerely hope you all enjoy it.
