Five-star in-state wide receiver Caleb Cunningham has flipped his commitment from Alabama to Ole Miss.

Cunningham made the announcement on Wednesday and only days after he was in attendance for the Rebels’ unforgettable 28-10 win over Georgia. He’s ranked as the No. 1 recruit in Mississippi.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Cunningham is from Choctaw County High School in Ackerman, Mississippi. He’s the No. 17 prospect in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, as well as the No. 2 wide receiver.

Cunningham has attended multiple Ole Miss games this fall and still has his official visit available.

The Rebels (8-2, 4-2 SEC) hosted a number of top-ranked prospects for their 28-10 beatdown of Georgia (7-2, 5-2) on Saturday. Among them was Caleb Cunningham — a five-star wide receiver ranked as the No. 1 player in Mississippi for the 2025 class. 

Could Ole Miss be on the verge of flipping Cunningham from Alabama? Deuce Knight, the five-star in-state quarterback, was in town, too. Where do the Rebels stand with the long-time target and current Auburn commitment?

Even more, Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding sent out a shark emoji on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, not long after the final horn of the historic win. 

Ben and Zach have some ideas of who Golding was possibly referencing. Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin said Sunday he expects the next 48 hours to be quite fruitful for the Rebels on the trail. The guys tell you why.

What a perfect Ole Miss football Saturday. 

The No. 16 Rebels (8-2, 4-2 SEC) secured the greatest Ole Miss win in the modern era with their 28-10 statement against No. 3 Georgia (7-2, 5-2).

Pretty much everyone with an Ole Miss pulse (Mike Hilton! DK Metcalf! Barstool Sports!) descended on Oxford for an historic day that ended with the goalposts coming down. 

Ole Miss picked up its 15th Top 5 win in school history, as well as its highest-ranked win since toppling No. 1 Alabama in 2014. The Rebels joined the Crimson Tide as the only teams to defeat Georgia since 2021. 

Ole Miss is responsible for two of Georgia head coach Kirby Smart’s 18 career losses. The Bulldogs were handed their largest margin of defeat since 2019.

And we still haven’t gotten to everything else, including a record-breaking Vaught-Hemingway Stadium crowd. Ole Miss Saturdays simply don’t get any better.

A matchup of ranked Ole Miss and ranked Georgia is set for just the sixth time in history and third season in a row.

The No. 16 Rebels (7-2, 3-2 SEC) host the No. 3 Bulldogs (7-1, 5-1) Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC. On the line is the Rebels’ College Football Playoff hopes.

Can the Rebels finally beat the SEC boogeyman? Ole Miss is 25-3 at home since 2021, including an 11-1 mark since 2023. The Rebels are coming off a 63-31 dismantling of Arkansas. It was their second consecutive win, and the Rebels set 13 school records.

Former Ole Miss Spirit contributor Sudu Upadhyay didn’t give Ole Miss much of a chance going into Georgia this time last year. 

He’s changed his tune for this week’s matchup in Oxford.

“Last year I didn’t want to come on the podcast because I thought (Ole Miss) people were going to hate me,” Upadhyay said. “Ole Miss could not match up with them.

“This year? There’s hope. It’s still the No. 2 team in the country coming into town. If Ole Miss pulls off those games against LSU and Kentucky and doesn’t play really stupid football at certain points of the season, I’m sitting here going, ‘I think they can actually do this. I think they’re going pull this off.’ That’s clouded my vision. 

“With that being said, if Ole Miss can protect Jaxson Dart, which is a tough task against Georgia, you can attack this secondary. They aren’t what they were a year ago.”

Upadhyay still expects the Bulldogs to win — but only because he’s still waiting on Lane Kiffin to win a marquee game (such as Saturday) as Rebel head coach. 

This season’s iteration is far closer to a pick-‘em. Ole Miss didn’t have the trench strength on either side of the ball to hang with the Bulldogs last season and lost by five touchdowns. 

The Rebels roll into the weekend with a championship-caliber defense ranked No. 1 nationally in sacks. No. 16 Ole Miss (7-2, 3-2 SEC) hosts No. 2 Georgia (7-1, 5-1) at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.

“(Last year) I wanted to say, ‘Guys, we’re going to get our (butts) rocked. It’s going to be ugly,” Upadhyay said. “This year? I can’t say that.”
