We all have coping strategies, but are they healthy?
When life throws the unexpected at you, it's natural to seek to numb the pain through coping. Maybe you run to online shopping, alcohol, or binge eating. But God's desire is for us to soothe in a way that draws us closer to Him. That can look like praying or reading the Bible or even going for a walk or listening to upbeat, positive music.
This week, I encourage you to write out a coping list. Be honest about your good and bad strategies, cross out anything that pulls you away from God, and circle anything you can use. Be mindful to think of strategies that don't involve others. Then share your list with someone you trust.
