Last week I released an episode called "The Beauty Battle." I started the conversation about where this battle for beauty began and I challenged us to examine our hearts for any beauty idols. This week I am continuing that conversation about beauty. 

As I was scrolling through social media, I was noticing there were a lot of before and after photos. These photos are inspiring as we see the transformation that takes place when individuals commit to a program and they get incredible changes in their body and health. I once did a diet program with my sister in college and let’s just say we only took before photos because at the end of that challenge I actually gained 8 pounds. While I joke about this topic I want us to look a the very first mention of before and after in the Bible.

While there wasn’t a photo flashed for Eve to be inspired by, satan painted a before and after scenario for Eve. Satan started by painting Eve’s bleak, lame before picture. You know, the one with no makeup and hair a mess? Then he painted the after of when she ate from the tree. This after was so breathtaking it inspired Eve to action. 

What before and after scenario is the enemy, or your own inner critic, painting for you? Have you believed that if only you could get to the after, then all would be well? 

My friend, I am here to tell you that where you are now is enough. Yes, get healthy and take care of your body. But you do not need to get cleaned up physically in order for God to meet with you. He loves you right where you are. In fact, that journey to health becomes a lot more fun when God is walking alongside you every step of the way. Invite him in today.
