Buying Christmas gifts can have its ups and downs. Downs for example finding the gift for the right person. Shipping problem, not being able to find an item is always frustrating. Then sometimes you find the gift and pay for faster shipping and then it may still come late. You are probably wondering what are the UP's of gift giving. That is when you finally give the gifts away and its done. Now I am not a hater but I could do without the added stress.

USPS is so backed up that even if they planned for this type of a surge in deliveries. They still wouldn't be able to handle it.

I talked a little bit about my eating disorder. I have never talked about this. Not because I don't think I should. It's just I never thought of it as a disorder more of a way to make sure I never got fat. My wife called it a disorder. Not a doctor so it may just be me.

I now realize that alcohol was affecting my financial life. I always thought that alcohol was never a problem because it never interrupted work and I always made payments on time. Now I see that I was making poor financial decisions based on feelings. Feelings that I got from drinking. Today without it everything works, no more bad decisions and poof just like that things work. This is not a crazy thought. I know most of you are probably thinking that's a no brainer. When your addiction puts the blinders on it is very hard to see all the problems it is causing in your life. At this time in my life I can see that I was very wrong about that. I'm so grateful to be sober from alcohol today and get the opportunity to try fix my mistakes and better myself today.

I am convinced that 2022 is the year we are all waiting for. Not that I don't think 2021 will be better than 2020 but it will take all year is my guess. Anyone else feel the same? Let me know in the comment section.

Recently we had a family member kill himself. Very sad and during the holiday season the news hits a little harder.  This made me think what could I have done to help. This is a new feeling for me. Considering that I was never a Person anyone could turn to for help. Getting off alcohol and bettering  myself has made me realize that I now can possibly help others. This will allow me to finish the circle and put my hard work to good use. I am so thankful to be where I am today, but realize that others are not so lucky.  

Anyone watch the Tyson fight? I did not and I tell you why.

Listening to people with different ideas is something I think  we should all do more. So that we can all open our mind to other ideas besides our own.

Early 90's misdiagnosis of ADD or ADHD was an early sign for alcoholism. Look into this I believe it, but don't take my word for it.

Since I have been off alcohol I have not felt comfortable in who I was. Seeing the changes that I have made in my life working. All the good an positive  changes in  my every day routine making my days easier to get through. All this self discipline taking shape. It just feels good to be comfortable in my own skin for once. Being clear minded and able to think before acting has saved me so much anxiety. This is not easy but with patience and good discipline this has gotten easier. What I am trying to say is that we all have the power inside of us to do this.

We all also have the power to change our diets and get healthy. This way your own ammine system would help the virus. A pill or a vaccine is not the only answer. This needs to be a bigger subject than it is. I never understand why everyone wants the quick fix when there just is not one for your health. 

Turning 41 this year made me think of my child hood.

We all have weakness when it comes to our addictions. Holidays make it harder, all the adds, the shelves full of alcohol and even when we visit family temptations are still there. We as addicts need to realize that we can say no and that makes us stronger.  ( I believe if you give in to temptations you are weak and if you look them in the face and turn them down then your getting stronger.) People on the outside of this will probably see you as week for not giving in. These people will not help your sobriety. Food is also a temptation that people struggle with during these times as well.

Managing my anger is hard and a lot of work. But as of late I have been walking away from things that frustrate me and go to something that I can control to feel more balanced. So I don't get stuck and get angry. Even though this is something I have to work on everyday and it is tough. when I get into a situation that makes me deal with it and I get through that. I feel so much better and prove to myself that I can do it and I believe if I keep doing this it will only get easier.

Email of the week is the NEW segment I have been talking about. So that we can learn from others stories. I really enjoyed doing this and look forward to reading more emails in the future.

When I was a kid it was so easy to finish things and have time for myself. Now as an adult it is harder to find this time for myself. Every time I think I am done. There is another bill or something else to fix. Getting a house is great but all the work that goes into it is never ending. What I am saying is enjoy your youth while you have it. When your time comes you will realize where your at right now is something you will miss if you don't enjoy it right now.

We need to focus on our health, not locking down everything again this is all so stupid. Health is the one thing we need to talk about and no one does. All you hear is Lock it down. Not the answer we need this is not going to fix this problem. 

Why do we do these things? Buy houses, get married. Why is this the dream. It lock us down and sometimes makes us unhappy. The good out balances the bad most of the time, but still why is the dream? Sometimes you find your best friend. That's the dream I believe, not the items we buy but the memories and friendships we acquire along the way.

Stay calm after election it will be OK no matter who wins.

Making this podcast is complex for someone like myself who has never worked with anything like this before. I got comfortable with the simple mic and editing process. This was making me lazy, so I upgraded to expand the podcast and take it further. I want to have conversations and to do that I had to upgrade and now I am out of my comfort zone. Getting something NEW started is a hard task. Once it becomes habit, and becomes a new comfort zone. I have to get out of that again and mix it up again in order to learn new things.

This story takes place around 1993 when I was about 13. This is a poor example of how an older sibling should behave. I was trying to impress my friends and fit in. I did not realize how my choices affect my sister or my parents. This could have been worse this is true. Looking back on this now I realize what could have happened and how trying to fit in ALMOST killed my sister.

This week was a bit of a struggle. Found out my grandmother has breast cancer. I know she is 93 but the news still sucks. With that and old feelings popping up. I thought about drinking in the sense that I literally just thought about it. Instead of feeling like I was going to reacted to that thinking. It was just that a thought. So some progress made there.

My 93yr old grandmother told me not to believe everything you read, because kombucha is not good for you. Love her so much and I know she has a had a good long life. I still don't want to lose anyone I care for. So this hit hard and triggered a lot of old feelings and self doubt.

Finding out I am not as confident in myself as I thought I was. Tough but true. I have so much to work on. Its OK though, when I show myself I will always be this person that I am today. Then and only then will I be able to show others the new person I have become.
