  • EP 182: Wings With Reid Ferguson

On this episode of the future award-winning Moran-Alytics Podcast, Patrick Moran continues his “Wings With” series while taping episodes at various wing spots in Western New York.  Today he’s joined by Buffalo Bills long snapper Reid Ferguson at Sonny Reds in Lackawanna for a conversation about wings, Buffalo, the playoff organization he plays for, The Office and much more.

You can follow Reid on Twitter @SnapFlow69.

Special thanks to Sonny Reds for being a gracious host. If you’re hungry for a good ole’ fashioned Buffalo-style chicken wing, Sonny Reds is about as good as they come. The guys had Joe’s Chicken Wings (sauce made famous by Eric Wood) and General Tso—both were delicious.

  • EP 181: Wings With Marcel Louis-Jacques

On the episode of the future award-winning Moran-Alytics Podcast, Patrick Moran is back in Buffalo and while there continues his “Wings With” series, this time hooking up with ESPN.com Buffalo Bills beat reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques for wings and a chat at Macy’s Place Pizzeria in Cheektowaga.

After devouring a combination of hot lemon pepper, hot honey mustard and cajun medium wings, the guys agree that Macy’s is one of the best spots in all of Western New York for wings.

After talking wings the guys jump into discussing Marcel adjusting to living in Buffalo and covering the Bills, including learning how to deal with his first-ever wintery cold weather experience recently. Marcel points out some differences and similarities on living in Buffalo compared to other cities, talks about how Bills fans have treated him since he started covering the team and the relationships he’s forming with colleagues in the media.

Of course they spend some time talking Bills football, including what he perceives the fan reaction and mind set following a one score loss last weekend at New England. They also discuss how high Josh Allen’s ceiling should be, why John Brown is now a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver, who he thinks should sit for the meaningless season finale this Sunday and how he far thinks the Bills can realistically go in the postseason.

They finish up by answering a few questions from Bills fans via Twitter.  You can follow Marcel on Twitter @Marcel_LJ and check out his work covering the Bills at espn.com.

Special thanks to Macy’s Place Pizzeria for being a great host and allowing us the privilege of taping the podcast there.  Western New Yorkers, if you haven’t had wings there you’re doing self a huge disservice.  Change that immediately.

    Merry Christmas!

  • Ep 180: The Brandon Beane Appreciation Episode

On the episode of the future award-winning Moran-Alytics Podcast presented by 26 Shirts, Patrick Moran hooks up with longtime buddy and occasional podcast guest Tone Pucks as the two deep dive into the remarkable job Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane has done transforming his team from perennial loser to legitimate AFC contender.

They start by replaying a take from Tone during a taping just hours after the Bills season opening victory against the New York Jets well over three months ago.  Pucks predicted then that not only would the Bills win 11 games on the season but also lauded the manner which Beane constructed the team last offseason.  Pucks’ take held true and the guys examine the roster to detail exactly why.

From the planned running back switch with Frank Gore we didn’t realize was the plan all along, to not taking John Brown’s snub personally the year before to finding low key gems like Jon Feliciano and Quinton Spain, Beane used free agency and another strong dance to continue his vision of what an emerging contender should look like.

The guys also take a look at what work lies ahead for Beane this coming offseason, with two key defenders set to become free agents and a slew of core players to potentially re-sign over the next 6-12 months. They end by offering insight to what the Bills realistic expectations should be right now and compared to when they take the field next season.

Follow Tone Pucks on Twitter @TonePucks.

Patrick also spends a few minutes talking with Bills fan Zack Kmitch.  After the Bills defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday night to clinch a playoff berth, several fans ventured to the airport to wait outside in frigid temperatures (by Buffalo standards) to greet the team when their jet touched down.  As players made their way out, Josh Allen walked by a group of fans cheering, grabbed a fan’s phone and took a selfie with them.  The photo not only went viral but ultimately landed on display at the Allbright Knox Art Gallery.   The phone Allen used to snap the selfie was Zack’s, and Patrick talks to him about his entire memorable experience.

Following this, Patrick will be in Buffalo to tape the next four episodes, so be on the lookout for continuation of his “Wings With” series.  Follow him on Twitter @PatMoranTweets for updates.

  • EP 179: Buffalo Bills Are Going To The Playoffs

On this future award-winning episode of the Moran-Alytics Podcast presented by Sounds Assured, Patrick Moran hooks up with recurring guest Aaron Quinn from Cover 1 to discuss all things Buffalo Bills as the franchise is now officially headed to the playoffs for the second time in three years.

Buffalo went to one of the toughest places in the NFL to win at, Heinz Field in Pittsburgh in their first Sunday night game since 2007 and made the most of it, picking off Devlin Hodges four times to seal a seven point win.  The guys talk about several of the standouts on the defensive side of the ball Sunday night, including the usual suspects this season like Jordan Phillips, Shaq Lawson, Tremaine Edmunds and of course Tre White, who unofficially locked up a Pro Bowl spot and is stating his case for being one of the best corners in the league.

They also talk about the importance of John Brown on a night when other receivers struggled, the offensive line doing a decent job and Brian Dabol’s play calling redemption that led to the winning score after some horribly conservative decisions earlier in the game.

Beyond the game, Patrick and Aaron discuss the different feeling about this Bills playoff team than two years ago, the unrivaled Bills fan base, potential playoff match ups and where they feel this is in regards to becoming a legitimate AFC championship contender.

You can follow Aaron on Twitter @AaronQuinn716 and be sure to check out Cover 1 for outstanding deep-dive Buffalo Bills analysis and content.

  • EP 178: Dorin Dickerson, Former Buffalo Bills TE

On this episode of the future award-winning Moran-Alytics Podcast presented by 26 Shirts, Patrick Moran has a conversation with former Buffalo Bills tight end and current sports talk show host at 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, Dorin Dickerson.

Dickerson helps preview a huge game for both the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers in primetime on Sunday night. Dickerson breaks down several impact players that make the Steelers defense one of the league’s elite units, including MVP candidate T.J. Watt, Bud Dupree, Devin Bush, Mikah Fitzpatrick and Cam Heyward.

He also brings Bills fans up to speed with unlikely Pittsburgh starting quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges and how he’s approached his recent promotion like he has nothing to lose.

Dorin also spends time talking up the Buffalo defense and Josh Allen as well as giving his prediction on who comes out on top.

You can follow Dorin on Twitter @ScorinDorin and check out 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh.

Before checking out Patrick offers thoughts of his own on the game, including highlighting the Bills having a chance to not only clinch a playoff spot but also the fifth seed, which would almost certainly avoid a first-round matchup with Kansas City.

He also reads tweets from fans on the significance of the game and what the mood will be should Buffalo lose.

  • EP 177: Demone Harris, Kansas City Chiefs

On the episode of the future award-winning Moran-Alytics Podcast presented by Pulse Cellular, Patrick Moran has a chat with former Bishop Timon high school/UB football star and current Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Demone Harris.

The conversation is focused on Harris’ whirlwind 2019 and an NFL season that’s seen him spend time with three different organizations over the past five weeks before finding a home in Kansas City with the Chiefs.

Demone began the season with Tampa Bay but was eventually cut, brought back to the practice squad and ultimately released again. Days later he signed with Baltimore on their practice squad and spent a few weeks there before Kansas City signed him to their active roster and the early returns have been promising.

Harris played 18 snaps on defense for the Chiefs in Sunday’s victory over the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots and contributed a pair of tackles. It was the first extensive defensive action of Harris’ NFL career.

Harris talks about Sunday, what it meant to him and the crazy journey he’s been on that’s taken him from football fields in South Buffalo all the way to Foxboro Stadium.

He also provides insight on the engagement ring story that made national headlines last month and admits that the possibility of facing the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs would be extra special.

You can follow Demone on Twitter @DemoneHarris

After that Patrick has a conversation with Jeff Boyd (@JeffBoyd716) from the 716 Sports Podcast about the Buffalo Bills and Sabres.

The Bills lost Sunday against Baltimore in a game that has Moran disappointed but not overreacting. Jeff adds plenty of analysis on the game as well as big picture stuff before they finish with a chat about the Sabres, who are playing better of late and are currently sitting in a playoff spot at the time of this taping.

  • EP 176: Lindsey OK, Football Blogger & Content Creator

    Listen to Moran-Alytics Podcast

    @import url("https://embed.pod.link/button.css");

On this episode of the future award-winning Moran-Alytics Podcast presented by 26 Shirts, Patrick Moran has an interview with Lindsey OK, NFL blogger based near Baltimore to preview Sunday’s showdown between the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens.

Lindsey offers insight over the surprise both herself and most Ravens fans have that Baltimore is 10-2 on the season, how Lamar Jackson has transformed himself from a young quarterback littered with question marks to MVP frontrunner, Mark Ingram making a huge impact in the running game as well and a trademark Baltimore defense that continues to be one of the best in football.

They also spend time discussing her Joe Flacco fandom, Matt Ryan ball-busting, Josh Rosen getting screwed over twice in two years as well revealing her difficulties in dealing with hurtful Twitter trolls.  They wrap the interview with the traditional Moran-Alytics Podcast Mini-Lightning Round, where among other things we learn of Lindsey’s  Home Improvement crush, her Mt. Rushmore of TV shows, a karaoke song she’d sing if she ever performed one and three influential dinner guests she’d most like to have over.

She also says that Baltimore should be legitimately concerned about playing Buffalo this weekend and offers a prediction for Sunday.

You can follow Lindsey on Twitter @Lindseyyok. She also a Patreon page worth checking out where she offers exclusive content as well as photos, video and more.  It’s the best way to support content creators like Lindsey.

Before the interview Moran spends a few minutes talking about some progress from the Buffalo Sabres and concludes the episode with a rant about how meaningful Sunday’s Bills game is, especially if the Kansas City Chiefs can defeat the New England Patriots.

  • EP 175: Del Reid, #BillsMafia & 26 Shirts

On this episode of the future-award winning Moran-Alytics Podcast, Patrick Moran has a conversation with recurring guest Del Reid, co-founder of #BillsMafia and founder of 26 Shirts on a variety of Buffalo related topics.

They discuss the term Bills Mafia becoming such a force in the social media world and how it’s grown to point every Bills fan’s now referred to as part of the mafia. Del remembers the humble and innocent beginnings of the term, how it started, who directly and indirectly helped propel it to popular status and how it’s become one of the most successful terms ever branded exclusively through social media.

Patrick asks Del how he reacted to the passing earlier this year of Ezra Castro AKA Pancho Billa and several months later is still emotional about what he meant to him and the entire Bills community.  He tells the story of how the backpacks for children campaign became a thing following his death and how Pancho continues to be an important part of this Bills season, even if not physically there.

They also talk some of the on-goings at 26 Shirts before wrapping with current Bills talk, including the relaxing feeling of a stress-free Sunday after the Bills dominated Dallas on Thanksgiving Day.

You can follow Del on Twitter @DelReid and of course be sure to check out 26shirts.com.

Before ending the podcast Patrick goes on a rant praising Bills general manager Brandon Beane as the catalyst for what looks to be an ascending football team.

  • EP 174: Buffalo Bills Stun Dallas & The Rest Of The Football World

On this special Black Friday episode of the future award-winning Moran-Alytics Podcast presented by 26 Shirts — a completely impromptu episode, Patrick Moran hooks up with Bill Kenny from the 716 Sports Podcast to discuss a Buffalo Bills borderline stunning victory at Dallas on Thanksgiving Day.

Frankly put, the decisive Buffalo win has most the football world a bit shocked, including Patrick and Bill. They discuss how the Bills were able to keep their composure early on when Dallas easily scored on their opening drive and looked like they might run away with the game. Ultimately it turned into Buffalo domination on both sides of the ball.

The guys talk Ed Oliver’s continued rookie emergence, apologies owed to Star Lotulelei, Shaq Lawson working towards a big pay day and more on the defensive side of the ball.

Of course, the big story was Josh Allen, who both agree played far and away the best game of his career on his biggest stage yet.  Allen carved up the Dallas defense with his arm, his legs and also his poise in the pocket—something we’re starting to see more of regularly to the point Patrick admits to being all-in on him.

They also give praise to Cole Beasley’s revenge game, Devin Singletary taking more of a featured role and a brilliant game plan devised by offensive coordinator Brian Dabol.

They finish by talking some big picture stuff, including the increased likelihood that Buffalo will make the playoffs for a second time in three years.

You can follow Bill on Twitter @TheBillKenney and check out the 716 Sports Podcast, dropped every Tuesday everwhere podcasts are found.

  • EP 173: Bruce Nolan, The Nick & Nolan Show

On this episode of the future award-winning Moran-Alytics Podcast presented by 26 Shirts, Patrick Moran welcomes Bruce Nolan, co-host of “The Nick & Nolan Show” on the Buffalo Rumblings podcast network.

Bruce was on the podcast along with Nick a few weeks ago but through no fault of his own, there was issues with Bruce’s audio.  Between that and a desire to have conversation with one of his favorite Buffalo Bills podcasters, Patrick reached out to Bruce to get him back on the pod.

After defeating the Denver Broncos convincingly on Sunday, the Bills are 8-3 for the first time since 1996—a span covering 23 years. Patrick and Bruce break down the game and several components of why the Bills dominated Denver on both sides of the ball.

The guys talk about the continued progression and evolving of quarterback Josh Allen, especially the little things he seems to be doing more of now that he barely, if at all did earlier in the season and certainly not his rookie year.   They also discuss the natural progression that has rookie running back Devin Singletary trending towards becoming a star running back while paying homage to Frank Gore, not just for what he does on the field but he’s embraced a mentor role for Singletary off it.

They also discuss a defense that consistently continues to get it done from all aspects, including Tre’ White emerging as one of the best corners in the game, Matt Milano becoming a playmaking machine and a defensive line finally starting to reguarly terrorize quarterbacks in the pass rushing game.  Bruce hits on a unit clearly playing with a chip on its shoulder, especially Shaq Lawson, who may be the latest Bill playing himself into a big offseason cash-in opportunity.

The guys also get you ready for the Dallas on Thanksgiving during this short football week and examine the rest of the Bills schedule, including the path other AFC wild card contenders have the remainder of the way as well.

Not to be forgotten is thoughts on Thurman Thomas not making the NFL All-100 team and Patrick agreeing with Bruce on what he considers one of the best food takes of all time.

You can follow Bruce on Twitter @BruceExclusive and be sure to check out the Nick & Nolan Show on Wednesday mornings available everywhere podcasts are found.
