Talking Buffalo

On this second episode of the Moran-Alytics Podcast, Patrick Moran interviews Buffalo News award-winning journalist/weekly radio sports talk host/college professor Tim Graham. They discuss the Baby Joe Mesi era—including the sometimes dirty politics of boxing, feeling downcast while writing for ESPN, returning to the Buffalo News to author life-impacting stories and add perspective to Tim’s gigs in both radio and the college classroom.

Then Tone Pucks (@tonepucks) jumps on for their “Pat With Pucks” segment to talk quarterbacks and upcoming Bills decisions with EJ Gaines and Preston Brown as well as some Buffalo Sabres talk. — much to Patrick’s dismay.

The Moran-Alytics Podcast ends with a few regular segments: MVP for one of the most successful movies to open in years, LVP to a NFL Hall of Famer who needs to ride off into the sunset and an edition of Terrible Tweets dedicated to one of the worst Bills fans.

This debut episode of the Moran-Alytics Podcast has Patrick Moran interviewing WGR-550 radio host and Buffalo Bills beat reporter Sal Capaccio (7:40).  They discuss Sal’s upbringing in Buffalo and his obsession with sports from a young age, why he chose to go to Syracuse for college, his move to Florida in the mid-1990s, what led to his return to Buffalo and a work journey that went from WGR part time, on-air talent to ultimately one of the most respected NFL reporters in the business .  They also discuss personal relationships among the media, why “tanking” can have several negative ramifications on a franchise and that magical New Year’s Eve when the Bills finally ended a 17-year playoff drought.  

Then longtime friend Tone Pucks (@tonepucks) joins to debut their “Pat With Pucks” segment (1:09:40), as the duo talk fantasy baseball euphoria, Buffalo Bills quarterback scenarios and have differing opinions on the TV drama “This is Us.”  

Lastly, the podcast winds down with weekly hardware for MVP (Chris Rock) and LVP (Fox News’ Laura Ingraham) as well as the first edition of Terrible Tweets.
