  • WebMed Mental Health Services - Improving Life Satisfaction

In this episode of Talking Business, Shelly Peterson - Founder and CEO of Promoting Me, LLC. and Holly Hansen - Community Development Director for the City of Cloquet  are talking about the Hidden Gem of WebMed Mental Health Service.  WebMed Mental Health Services, located at 1001 Avenue B,  is an outpatient mental health facility started by Timothy Weber that treats anxiety, depression, and chemical dependency. As a nurse practitioner working in emergency care, he saw the need for crisis and emergency mental health services. When people need help, they need help today, not three months from now. This led him to get his psychiatry certificate and open his practice. With two locations, Cloquet & Duluth, he has three nurse practitioners, three therapists, and three interns whose mission is to provide effective, affordable, and accessible mental health and substance abuse care. They serve by assisting with improving life satisfaction, reducing relapse potential, providing preventative assistance, and implementing the appropriate interventions. Crisis appointments are available to address the needs of patients experiencing high distress. In addition, individual and couples, and group therapy sessions are available. However, you don't have to be in crisis to visit WebMed; they offer talk therapy,  addiction services with the utilization of medication and therapy combined to combat substance abuse, medication management to provide goal-focused and patient-centered management and give the tools and knowledge to make the best medical decisions to improve your life.

WedMed provides TMS Therapy for depression. This involves a series of repetitive, brief, and highly focused magnetic pulses, designated to stimulate brain cells. TMS is typically prescribed to adult patients when antidepressants have failed or intolerable side effects. TMS Therapy is a non-invasive outpatient procedure with few known side effects. It is safe and effective, with no anesthesia, outpatient treatment, covered by insurance, including Medicare.

In-person and telemedicine services are available—coverage by most insurance companies.

Mental health can be a complex subject to define. However, when you think of mental health, think about your physical health, and it becomes much easier to understand.

L & M has been offering quality at a discount since 1959.  James Luthen and Delbert Matteson opened the first L&M Fleet Supply store in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, in 1959.  The first store was a 30' x 60' wooden building that barely had room for all the signage on the front.  L&M Supply started with a small markup philosophy which continues today.  Their vision and mission were to be one of the first merchants to buy directly from factories and sell directly to consumers.  Out of that vision, the Company Philosophy and Logo was established as "Quality at a Discount."

L&M Supply now includes ten retail store locations and one corporate office/distribution center across Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.  The ongoing loyalty through the years and support of all of their customers, along with the commitment from their employees who hold true to the philosophy and goals of the Company to continue to provide quality products at discount prices with excellent customer service, for ensuring continued growth and customer satisfaction.

L & M has proudly worked under the same mission, vision, and values since its inception over 60 years ago.

    • Wilderness Hockey - Junior League Hockey

In this episode of Talking Business, Shelly Peterson - Founder and CEO of Promoting Me, LLC. and Holly Hansen - Community Development Director for the City of Cloquet  are talking about the Hidden Gem of Wilderness Hockey.  Minnesota Wilderness - Junior League Hockey

The Minnesota Wilderness was founded by regional leaders several years ago to establish an area junior league team, to provide a hockey feeder program that develops and prepares players for Division 1 hockey.  How lucky we are that they picked Cloquet to do so. General Manager, Dave Boitz, says the biggest misconception of the Minnesota Wilderness is most people think this is a semi-pro team.

The North American Hockey League (NAHL) is a tier II junior hockey league program. The Minnesota Wilderness is a part of the Midwest Division and calls the Northwoods Credit Union Arena home, located in Cloquet’s Pine Valley Park. All players on the roster play at no cost to them. Under USA hockey sanctioning, The Minnesota Wilderness cannot charge players to play, and they also must provide players with uniforms, team clothing, and select equipment such as sticks, gloves, and helmets. Players without local families live with a Minnesota Wilderness Billet Family. A billet family is a host family and a house for an NAHL hockey player during the hockey season, which is around eight months long.

The program costs approximately $25,000 per player per year to participate in the program. Costs are funded by ticket sales, advertising, fundraisers like raffles, and the annual golf tournament, along with corporate sponsors and a commitment from our local community. “This community is so great, their support is unbelievable,” said Boitz. Local sponsors are updated on the team website and currently include: St. Lukes, B&B Market, Carmens, the Buffalo House, the River Inn, Family Tradition, Sammy’s Pizza, Pedros, The Jack, Community Memorial Hospital, Park Avenue Therapies and Fitness, Community Printing, USG, Super One Foods, FDLTCC, Kiminski Paving, Great Lakes Insurance, Farmers Insurance, Subway, Wells Fargo Advisors, Little Caesars, Perkins, Duluth Sign, Halvor Lines, Johnson Mertz, Adolphson Real Estate, Hunt Electric, Superior Beverages, and sitelogiq.

Players are recruited from all over the United States. Of the current roster of 23, three players are local, and the rest have come from other areas.

Attend a Wilderness game today and show your support. You can purchase season tickets or single-game tickets, online at https://www.wildernesshockey.com/season-tickets/ or in person at Super One and B&B Market. If you are interested in being a billet family, you can find more information on the team website. If you are interested in sponsoring the program by advertising or donating, reach out to Dave to learn more about your options.
