In this episode, I talk with Mia from The House of Christine headwear brand — a name many of you may already know and love, and perhaps even wear one of their beautiful products yourself.
We talk about who House of Christine are, how the brand came to be, their values, and their vision for their clients.
With making our clients feel good at the heart of both our businesses, we discuss the mindset around hair loss — whether that’s through treatment or Alopecia — the challenges people face when looking for alternatives, and the strength that can be found within the hair loss community.
We also explore the different materials that work best in various weather conditions — something many of my clients ask about. We’ll also be discussing what makes House of Christine stand out from other headwear brands.
The journey of acceptance and finding confidence in trying new alternatives to hair — and the strength that takes — is something we both see in our clients every day. Giving people options and helping them feel better about themselves is at the heart of what we both do, so I thought it would be wonderful to come together and talk all things hair loss and headwear.
I hope you enjoy the show.

I am so excited to share this episode with you!
Today, I’m interviewing Trichologist Emma Furlong, who works for the Aderans Group and also runs her own independent clinic.
I really wanted to get some of those questions answered that anyone experiencing any form of hair loss has been wondering about.
There are so many things we could talk about when it comes to hair loss, but the main focus of this episode is the relationship between hair loss and nutrition, and how we can help improve our hair health. If you’re in the early stages of hair loss, what should you start questioning?
One of the first foundational questions — if the reason for your hair loss isn’t already obvious — is nutrition. In our interview, Emma uses some brilliant analogies that make understanding hair growth really simple. She breaks down what we need to consume nutritionally to achieve optimum hair growth.
So, before you reach for the Biotin or other supplements, listen to this episode!
I hope you enjoy the show — and if you do, please rate and review! I’d really appreciate it.

In this episode, we talk about how it feels for men to lose their hair.
It’s a controversial topic, as it’s often assumed that men experiencing hair loss are “okay” with it — but after fitting many bespoke hair systems for men over the years, I’ve seen the other side.
Men experience many of the same types of Alopecia diagnoses as women, not just male pattern baldness. It can deeply affect their confidence, how they see themselves, and how they believe others perceive them.
This is a really important conversation to share with guys who may feel self-conscious or whose confidence is affected every time they walk out the door because of hair loss.
Duncan is incredibly honest and eloquent in this interview as he talks about his journey with hair loss — an experience he found, and still finds, deeply traumatic.
I’m so grateful for the courage it took for him to speak so openly, with the aim of helping and supporting even just one other man going through a similar experience.
So please, share this episode — it might just start a conversation that someone really needed to have.
In this interview, Katie and Duncan discuss topics such as:
Whether you’re listening because you’re experiencing the same thing, or you simply want to gain a better understanding of this topic, you’ll come away with a real sense of how mentally tough hair loss can be.
There’s something in this episode that will resonate with anyone experiencing any aspect of hair loss — so grab a cup of tea and enjoy the show!
As always, it’s a sensitive topic, and some parts may be upsetting. Please reach out for support if you need it.

In today’s interview, I talk to a lady who has two different diagnoses of Alopecia.
So far on this podcast, I’ve interviewed people with a single diagnosis, so it’s really interesting to talk about what it’s like to have several conditions going on at once.
We go right back to the first signs in childhood, and talk through her journey with the GP, Dermatologist, and her experience with a Trichologist — a specialist who deals with the health of both hair and scalp, as well as diagnosing conditions.
In this conversation, Katie and Eileen discuss topics such as:
Whether you’re listening because you’re experiencing the same thing, or you want to gain a deeper understanding of this topic, you’ll learn just how mentally tough hair loss can be.
There’s going to be something in this episode that resonates with anyone experiencing any form of hair loss — so go grab a cup of tea, and maybe some tissues!
As always, it’s a sensitive topic, and some parts may be upsetting. Please reach out for support if you need it.

In today’s interview, I have the pleasure of chatting with a lovely lady, Mandy May, who talks openly about her journey through breast cancer.
She takes us through her experience from diagnosis, how she coped with hair loss due to chemotherapy, and how she’s doing now, a few years on.
During her treatment, Mandy searched for a support group but couldn’t seem to find one that gave her the right support or the right kind of people. So, of course, the next best thing was to set up her own support group — and that’s exactly what she did.
Mandy is also online, where she offers advice and keeps people up to date with her progress beyond chemotherapy. Every 4–6 weeks, she hosts a coffee morning in Leamington Spa, featuring a speaker who discusses a relevant topic to support attendees.
I’ve encouraged my clients, even those who aren’t local, to attend if they can. Being around people who are welcoming and genuine can make a huge difference in how you feel about your day — and even your journey through treatment.
Mandy is honest, open, and approachable — exactly the kind of support my clients need when going through the same process. I encourage anyone going through breast cancer to, if possible, attend her support group or follow Mandy on her socials. She genuinely helps anyone she can and brings a positive vibe to everyone she meets.
This interview was recorded during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but support is needed all year round. It’s equally important to raise awareness about self-checks and to consult your GP if you notice any changes in your body.
All the topics we discuss are included in the show notes below.
As always, everything shared in this interview reflects one person’s experience. If anything resonates with you, please reach out for support. So grab a cuppa, relax, and I hope you enjoy the show.

I speak with Sarah Emerson, the Regional Manager for Look Good Feel Better, a cancer support charity.
With Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, I wanted to interview a charity like this for anyone who might be interested in the workshops and support they provide.
Having worked within an oncology unit and with NHS contracts, I have sadly seen many people coming to me for a hairpiece after losing their hair through treatment, or seeing them prior to treatment. Many of the clients I see have breast cancer, so it is very important to me to share as much support as possible.
Of course, this is a charity that supports people no matter what type of cancer treatment they are undergoing.
Topics Sarah and I Discuss Include:
If you need support with an Alopecia condition contact - https://www.alopecia.org.uk/
If you need support if you are going through treatment there are many amazing charities such as Macmillen and Maggies Charity.

Today I talk with a lovely lady who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and lost her hair through the chemotherapy treatment she received.
This is a remarkably positive and buoyant conversation about something that is very hard for so many people. We go through a bit of detail about her treatment, her general experience leading up to it, and how she coped with losing her hair, wearing wigs, and other people’s reactions to her wigs!
I've added a list of topics that we touch on during this conversation.
As I said, it is a really positive chat, and I hope that you can find some strength and inspiration from it if you yourself are going through treatment and experiencing hair loss.
All of the topics we touch on are personal opinions based on one person’s experience.
If anything you hear today resonates with you and you feel like you could use some support, please reach out to one of the many amazing charities offering help. Take great care, and I hope you enjoy the show.

In today’s interview, you’ll hear an honest and powerful insight into what was a deeply traumatic experience.
Emma lives with Alopecia Areata. Her condition first appeared in the classic small patches, but then returned — this time, much more severely.
She shares the story of a trigger that caused her hair to almost completely disappear.
We talk through her experience of that initial loss, the mental challenge of her hair growing back, and the heartbreak of losing it again years later.
Together, we explore how hair loss impacts every part of life — from the school run, to standing beside a bride as a bridesmaid, to holding it together in front of the kids at home.
Because mental health is the heart of this podcast, we also discuss the emotional toll that hair loss can take.
This is an open, honest, heart-on-sleeve conversation about one woman’s journey — trying everything from steroid injections and hair systems to topical treatments — all in the hope that her hair might return.
Whether you’re listening because you’re going through something similar, or you simply want to understand this topic more deeply, you’ll come away with a true sense of how mentally tough hair loss can be.
There’s something in this episode that will resonate with anyone experiencing any form of hair loss — so grab a cup of tea, and maybe some tissues.
As always, this is a sensitive topic, and some parts may be upsetting. Please reach out for support if you need it.
Take good care, and enjoy the show.

Through my work, I see how deeply hair loss can affect people. My mission with this podcast is to help others talk about it openly, seek support, and realise they are not alone.
In this episode, I share my experience attending an Alopecia UK support group in Birmingham. I wanted to see firsthand what happens so I could guide my clients who might feel nervous about going. What I found was warmth, understanding, and an instant sense of camaraderie among people who truly get it.
If you’ve been thinking about reaching out for support, or just want to hear what it’s really like, this episode might be the encouragement you’ve been waiting for.

In this episode, I’m joined by Stephen McLean, the husband of Serica, who I interviewed in March. Serica has Lichen Planopilaris Alopecia, and today we explore the journey from a partner’s perspective.
Stephen shares how they’ve navigated hair loss together — from diagnosis, wearing wigs, and stepping out without one — and how society reacts to hair loss. He talks honestly about the challenges, the empathy needed, and how he supports Serica through the day-to-day ups and downs of her journey.
If you’re a partner, family member, or friend of someone with alopecia, this episode offers insight into supporting them in meaningful ways. Stephen’s story reminds us that hair loss is not just an individual journey — it’s shared, emotional, and requires understanding, acceptance, and care.
