TLP 212 The HABU Dude & The Legal Brief Dude
Welcome back to the Talking Lead Show!  This week we have Adam Kraut, Esquire of the Gun Collective's "The Legal Brief" and Steve Parker with Falcon 37, the makers of the HABU charging handle system.

Before we get into finding out more about our guests, The Gunny brings in the Talking Lead Jackwagon Train.  Riding the TLJWT this week is a branch of the military and another "wacko" leftist politician's proposal for more gun control.

Steve Parker with Falcon 37 tells us how the HABU came to be and how it works. Steve founded Falcon 37 Inc. Steve has over 40 years experience with firearms including: US Marine Corps Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, Armed Personal Protective Detail (PPD) for President's Reagan and Bush, EX President Carter and Secretaries of State Schulz , Energy Herrington and Director FBI/ CIA William Webster. US Army Special Operations, trained as a Special Forces (Green Beret) Weapons Sergeant and psychological operations.

HABU Mod 1 simply racks like your pistol slide! Take your non-trigger/off-hand, over the top and in one motion rack HABU to the rear and release.

Next up we find out more about Adam, how his affinity for firearms developed and how he got involved with Firearms Law.  His first experience shooting was with the Boy Scouts of America at Camp Horseshoe!  Adam, being an Eagle Scout, is still heavily involved with Scouting in Pennsylvania.

This week's Talking Lead "Facts To Fight The Myth" is presented by Adam Kraut.  The myth: Only a person with a felony is prohibited from owning a firearm.  Not true!  Some misdemeanors apply.  Listen in as Adam educates us on some of these.

Adam is running for the National Rifle Association Board of Directors.  Adam tells us why he will make a great addition to the NRA Board.  Being in tune with modern trends, education, training & repealing NFA are some of his running points.   Help support getting Adam on the ballot by signing his petition.  If you are a qualifying member of NRA go to his website adamkraut.com and print off the packet for filling out the petition.

TLP 211 Operate Like A Pro With Glock Professional
Welcome back to the Talking Lead Show episode 211.  This week Lefty travels to Smyrna Georgia for a very special event held by Glock Inc and Glock Professional.  The 2017 Glock Summit where a select few media people had the privilege to take the Glock Operator Course while trying out a new product.
Joining Lefty this week on the show to talk about the operator course and the Glock Sport Shooting Foundation are Josh Dorsey, VP of North American Operations; Willie Parent, Director Of Training & GSSF; Scotty Banks, Training Manager; Chuck Evans, Training/GSSF; Chris "Gen 1" Edwards, Range Master/GSSF Match Coordinator.  The intensive, two-day shooting course was created to offer an affordable form of continuing education in marksmanship and the use of the GLOCK pistol to clients. The course, which is designed by and vetted by military and law enforcement, and combat veterans with real world experience, offers instruction to sharpen the skills of newly trained shooters and seasoned operators alike.

After a short break to get some range time with the Glock G-18, rat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat, we break into some interviews with a few of the guys that went through the operator course with Lefty.  Joining us this segment we have Brian "Duncan" Johnson with Ammoland, Fred Mastison with Force Options & Andre Dall'au with Big 3 East Media; Chris Bartocci with Small Arms Solutions; James & Pete with The Firearm Blog.

The guys give their impressions of the course, one big take away and a little lively smack-talk breaks out. Of course we are all still jacked up after shooting the G18 and talk about this rare opportunity to shoot a real G18!  We also learn a bit about the media outlets represented during the two-day Glock Summit.

TLP 210 Fiber Optic Security & Machine Guns
We are back with another episode of the Talking Lead Podcast show!  This week we travel to Ohio for an impressive demonstration of a high-tech fiber optic detection system and an exhilarating day of shooting machine guns.

Brian Borkowski with Asymmetric Technologies joins Lefty. A veteran owned company, ASYMMETRIC TECHNOLOGIES LLC is a group of experts in the rapid technology transitioning process.  They are a team of seasoned professionals, engineers and technicians, who have consistently excelled at the rapid fielding of new technology. They are agile, deliberate, and understand how to effectively integrate and transition new technology in the current operational environment.

As the guys start to get into today's topic the Gunny rolls in with the Talking Lead Jackwagon Train.  This time a dumb "smart" gun earns a seat on the TLJW Train along with another useless gun buy-back program in New Jersey.

Next Brain and Lefty talk about the latest projects Asymmetrics has been working on.  Drones are always a fun topic to discuss which AT just so happens to be involved in some interesting drone research.  Another project in the works is a high-grade DOPPLER LIDAR system (Light {laser} Detection and Ranging) that builds 3d models which is used for base defense applications.

The main project we were there to see was the Fiber Optic Detection System or FODS.  A commercially available version using a fiber optic cable with a range of 100 kilometers allows you to have up to 5000 channels which allows detection of different energy signatures (patterns of life) put into the ground. Ideally used for threat detection around a perimeter this systems can differentiate between a person walking their dog vs a person cutting your fence.  A car passing by vs  a car that stops, gets out and interacts with your fence.  The FODS system is so diverse it can be used for geological, military, gas & oil industry, nuclear facilities, and even border security aspects.

After business we have a ton of fun with the 2nd Annual Asymmetric Technologies Machine Gun Shoot. Tusker Arms provided an awesome array of unique fully automatic guns with included: Micro & Mini Uzis; M16 Armalite AR-15; AK47 Kalashnikov Automatic Rifle; Thompson SubMachine Gun; MAC-10  Military Armament Corporation Model 10;  FN Herstal  FN P90; M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR), M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW); M107 Barrett Semi-Auto 50 cal; MG 42 Maschinengewehr 42; M1919 Browning 1919; Czeck UK vz. 59 Universal Machine Gun Model 1959; Heckler & Koch HK23e; and many more.  Some of these were a once in a lifetime opportunity to shoot and shoot we did!

TLP 209 Gun Muffler Education Aklys Defense
Welcome back to the Talking Lead Show!  This week we learn about Suppressors with our fellow Lead Heads Joe Meaux and Charles Watson with Aklys Defense.  We did a rare Live show this week on Aklys Defense's Social Media Page.

Before class gets started the Talking Lead Jackwagon Train barrels in to load up some new passengers.  The California Penal systems makes the cut this week for allowing O.J. Simpson's parole.  Also making it on this week's passenger list are celebrities that off themselves.

After having fun with the Jackwagons the bell rings and "Gun Muffler" class begins.  What is a suppressor?  How do they work?  What are the different types? What is "First Round Pop"? What are the legal aspects of owning a silencer? The guys talk about everything you ever wanted to know about gun suppressors and more.

Joe and Charlie give us with a couple or three new Talking Lead Facts To Fight The Myth. Our first pertains to the ATF and home visits to check NFA items...know your rights!  Another about suppressor in Hollywood, are they really that quiet?  And more...

There has never been a better time to buy a suppressor or a firearm for that matter.  Prices are at all time lows and with the Hearing Protection Act still sitting in committee now is the time to contact your Government representatives and get them on board.  You can contact your member of Congress by clicking HERE or use the Congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121.

We announce the winner of the Talking Lead Tactical Squirrel June Box, drum roll please!  To continue the Talking Lead 200th episode celebration Aklys Defense puts up a new prize package for the next lucky Lead Head that answers this week's trivia question correctly.

TLP 204 Did The Military Pick The Best Handgun For Our Troops?
Welcome back to the Talking Lead Show episode TLP 204!  This week Lefty delves into The XM17 Modular Handgun System (MHS) competition. The United States Army and United States Air Force competition for a new service pistol.

With so many complaints with the Beretta 92FS aka: M-9, after 2o years it was time to replace it with a more modern, more lethal, more modular handgun.  For now, the M9's replacement appears to be the Sig Sauer P320.  Was the "best" handgun chosen?  Was the MHS competition ended prematurely?  Did the Government pick price over performance again?  We discuss these questions and more in this episode of Talking Lead!

To help with the discussion we invited a qualified group of current and former Military servicemen to join in the discussion.

    John Peterson:

A former Army Special Forces soldier with service before and after 9/11 overseas both as an SF troop and intelligence contractor. John has served as a full time firearms instructor at Smith & Wesson Academy and Sig Sauer Academy for 3 years each, then a tour in Afghanistan as a Special Forces soldier, then serving at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security before becoming a contractor supporting the war effort.  Earlier in his career, he served as an Infantryman in the U.S. Army during the Reagan era, before going in the Special Forces.

As an instructor, he has taught in over 60 types of firearms, tactics, driving, and intelligence courses as well as at 55 conferences to date. He has taught to police officers from all 50 states, all of the federal law enforcement agencies, and numerous allied countries as well as corrections, executive protection, private security,  and several thousand private citizens.

He is a life member of the NRA, Second Amendment Foundation, Special Operations Association, and Veterans of Foreign Wars

John has written for both newsstand magazine and online outlets on firearms, training, and terrorism, such as Firearms News, Be Ready, Tactical Shooter, and the Journal of Counterterrorism and Homeland Security International.  He is currently working on the first of three firearms books.

Upon his honorable discharge, he attended the Colorado School of Trades for Gunsmithing. His career path led him to contracting for the military. As a contractor, he deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan many times, over the course of seven years. He was recruited and deployed as a small arms repairer and inspector. The knowledge and experience he gained working closely with the military on their weapon systems in combat theaters proved invaluable in the creation of Frontier Tactical.
