Bret’s story is truly one of trials and tribulations. On the mat, Bret was a 3x state qualifier and 2x runner-up for Creston Orient-Macksburg. He was a part of the 2007 team that won both traditional and dual team state tournament. That same team was inducted into the Creston Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2021. But in the summer of 2007, Bret fractured his left leg playing baseball, putting his senior season in serious jeopardy. In Bret-like fashion, he worked his ass off and made a return trip to the state finals. One last thing of note: Tomorrow, September 14th, is Bret and his wife’s 10 year anniversary!
