Brett is a Rushville, Nebraska native, where was a 4x state placewinner and 2x Nebraska state champion. He went on to wrestle at Division II Chadron State in Chadron, Nebraska, where he became quite possibly the best wrestler to ever don the Cardinal and White. Brett was a 2x national champion, winning it at both 165 and 174 lbs. He is the school’s only repeat national champion and is also has the most wins in Chadron State wrestling history. As only luck would have it, Brett was named the Interim Head Coach at Chadron State for the 2012-2013 season before officially becoming the Head Coach a year later.
