Taskmaster: The People's Podcast

This week we watch Series 8, Episode 5 on the recommendation of a listener who believes it tops the list for most amount of fails in one attempt. Along the way we remember how tricky ping pong balls can be, the cleverness of Joe, the versatility of noodles and why we love Lou. Plus we learn the correct pronunciation of lasso (and taco) and, as a bonus, the origin of ten gallon hats.

Next week we're watching Series 2 and Episode 3.

Along the way they also remember verruca socks, the importance of the tea cozy test, Alex's pin number, the challenges of dot to dot pictures and the rules around texting yourself. Plus, a listener wonders if Taskmaster contestants should be allowed to play again in another country?

Jenny and Jack travel back to series 9 to find out what a Shaqinahat is and new questions emerge along the way; is it lass-ooo or lass-oh? Do people either have the dolls house gene or they don't? Would a trip-nip-slip been more appropriate for the prize task? Plus, Jenny has a go at writing her own lyrics for the Taskmaster theme tune.

Plus, a listener writes in to correct some Going for Gold lore and another suggests a tribute to series 6's Carol for next week's homework.

This week Jenny and Jack review series 15 together for the first time ever to find out; would Jenny would change her strategy now that she's a Taskmaster expert? Is the potato hat task still one of the best moments of her entire life? Was any vital, but legally murky information cut from her prize task explanation?

Plus a listener writes in to debate a 'massive bloop' by Joanna Page, which they believe could have changed the whole series.

Next week we'll be discussing Series 9 episode 8, if you'd like to follow along.

This week we revisit an old classic, featuring Danny Dyers secret love, the grandfather of podcasting, the most handsome and well dressed comedian of all time, comedy’s greatest character, and a very pregnant funny woman - according to Jack and Jenny.

And it prompts some questions; was Mawaan only good at prize tasks because everyone else was so bad? Is there anything that can make Richard the security guard happy? Should everyone should be made to miss a penalty in front of a crowd? Has the recent hot weather made Jack very gullible?

Plus a listener writes in to provide some last minute series 21 stats and another suggests Jenny revisit her series 15, episode 3 potato hat performance for homework.

Last week we had Jack's series 21 stats, this week we have listener's series 21 messages. Did Kumail have any riddles in his search history? Have we heard coconckers before this series? Was Amy robbed in the 'censor yourself' task? Should she have been disqualified for different task? Why are we seeing such a sudden influx of hull-based comedians? All of these questions are posed, some of them are definitively answered. Plus we experience our first ever 'hack and a track' and Jenny admits being late to nerd land.

Next week we're back to Jenny's homework, starting with Series 10, Episode 4.

And saying goodbye to series 21 of course means ushering in a new cast for series 22! Jack and Jenny give their thoughts.

It's the penultimate episode of series 21, but a first for episode titles and speaking Welsh. In this episode Jack and Jenny discuss the evolution of Joanna's storytelling, why Armando Iannuci is an inspiration in getting it wrong, a possible answer to Joel's egg timer conundrum, Kumail Nanjiani's famous planking, and why people who've shat themselves can learn a lot from Joanna Page. Plus Jack's still not convinced you can dance on custard and a listener writes in to point out a TMPP first.
