Tayne Talks: A Reality TV Podcast

The couples visit each other's homes and move into their lovely apartment on this week's episode. We join the couples in appreciating what we dubbed the nicest apartment MAFS has ever had. It doesn't take long for habits and differences to show up and we were here for it all.

We think Rachel and Jose are going to be okay, everyone should aspire to the self assurance of Myrla and Gil really needs to stop being rude and get off of Myrla's finances. The road is really rocky for Johnny and Bao, why are Ryan and Brett sooo boringgg? and Tayne doesn't think there is hope for Michaela and Zack. We also welcomed Pastor Cal's house call even if we raised eyebrows at his advice to Myrla.

We are still in the Florida Keys with the couples. Zack is still quarantining in his hotel room and we discuss the beautiful drone shot that we are given since no crew can get close to him.

This week, the couples have uncomfortable conversations. We are not sure why showering after a workout requires a conversation but Bao gives us something to talk about on this topic. Gil and Myrla talk about last names, financial backgrounds and Gil's dog. We disagree on this as Ade thinks she could just walk the dog while Tayne thinks otherwise. Brett and Ryan continue to flatline and Rachel and Jose continue to find balance as they discover some differences.

The group meet up and we are shocked that Lifetime aired an open discussion about politics. By the end of the episode, Ade isn't feeling Johnny and Tayne isn't feeling Gil. We appreciated Myrla being true to herself. We discuss Napoleon Syndrome, the chemistry between the cast and the disconnect in some conversations and so much more!

Zack has tested positive for Covid and Michaela heads back to Houston and we talk about how we miss their presence especially when the couples meet up for the first time after the wedding. We don't understand Myrla's constant whining as Gil does his best to be positive. We are sure his incessant questions are prodded by the producers.

Rachel and Jose continue to surprise us until Jose can't stop calling himself a provider. We enjoy Johnny and Bao profess their life for each other and we disagree a bit on Johnny's reaction to Bao's snoring insecurity. Ryan and Brett are still boring and we try to pay attention to them even though we know they are both putting a lot of effort into keeping it together.

We talk some more about the decision for Michaela to go back to Houston, go back and forth on JoRa's financial stances and confused about Bao's "practical lingerie" and we have different stances on the couples meeting each other during the journey.

The couples spend their first night together and get to learn more about each other. 3 and half of the couples are still enjoying each other and we break down each of the couple's first night and next morning recap with each other.

We notice how there were no incessant questions about if they consummated their marriage. We cheer on the first couple to do so and appreciate the organic way we were told. We give up on trying to defend Myrla but felt for her and Gil's tragic stories. We also express our annoyance at the producers for having the MC call Michaela down for a dance with her dad.

We are still enjoying the pleasant surprise that is Rachel and Jose and Tayne is pleased with how affectionate they are. We are bored with Brett and Ryan and don't think its too soon to say that it's not looking good. We are still on the Johnny and Bao train.

As always, there's many more in between like how messy is too messy a la Rachel, is Gil not motivated by money because he doesn't have money? and did Jose really offer to brush Rachel's teeth???

They're all married now! On this episode, we discuss the remaining weddings and the couples' first night together. We discuss how all the couples give us the feels - well except Brett and Ryan, who seem to just go through the motions. We also notice how she was the only one not carried over the threshold.

We discuss how pleasantly surprised we were at Rachel and Jose after our not so great first impression on Jose. Ade enjoyed Rachel's game idea at what we now call the "Champagne Chat" and we both cringe at Rachel saying she asked the experts to match her based on personality not looks.

We talk about how this season is 3 for 3, so far, the benefits of diversity as we get to see different cultures and rituals in this season's weddings and Tayne maintains her stance on how people from recent breakups shouldn't risk being cast on the show. We make our predictions on the couples and also talk about that explosive preview.

The weddings keep going and this week we see two more of the couples get married. The show continues the good feels with Michaela and Zack's wedding. We can't tell what to expect from these two but we are hoping for success for them. We worry a bit about Hurricane K but Ade can't wait to meet her. We talk about how we thought Zack was about to bow out and how nervous he was that he botched his explanation of what a renaissance man is.

We also talk about how the experts will always expert, when they match Myrla with someone who is bald and has a dog - two things she is not particularly fond of. We again worry about Myrla and Tayne can't decide if it's just editing. Gil isn't particularly off the hook as he seems fixated on finances.

We're baaaaaaack!

It's a new season and a new set of couples and we were so ready to wipe season 12 out of our memories but we just had to recap all the recent breakups but we promise we're done! We talk about the 3 (yes,3!) hour premiere and how we thought it was worth it because we enjoyed every moment of it even if it only yielded one wedding.

We share our thoughts on the couples and Ade thinks that this is one of the most attractive cast we've had. We also notice the subtle changes here and there and Tayne shares how this premiere episode reminds her of one of the best parts of this show - the hope and optimism at the beginning. As always, we give our first bouquet and burnt ashes of the season.
