Topic: The Latest Developments Of the Choi Scandal

Guests: Professor 박경신 (Law/ Korea University)

Segment Introduction

Host:

As widely expected, President Park Geun-hye was a no-show on Tuesday as the constitutional court formally launched its impeachment trial against her, who is unlikely to attend any of the subsequent proceedings according to her lawyer. Her loyalists in the Saenuri Party however have found little means of escape, caught in a desperate struggle to save their political careers amid calls for them to resign that have only intensified with the appointment of In Myung-jin as the party’s interim leader. To help us get a better handle on this situation, we’re very pleased to have with us from Korea University, law professor 박경신.

PRIME INTERVIEW

Topic: Obama Expels Russian Diplomats Over Hacking Allegations

Guest: Professor Rory Cormac (Int’l Relations/ University of Nottingham)

Segment Introduction

Host:

Last week, 35 Russian diplomats based in the United States were expelled by President Barack Obama while two diplomatic compounds were shut down, in response to the alleged hacking of the Democratic Party and Hilary Clinton’s campaign during the 2016 U.S. presidential elections. These measures represent arguably the strongest-ever official response against state-sponsored hacking, going significantly farther than similar incidents in the past involving countries like China and North Korea. To help us learn more, we’re very pleased to have joining us from the University of Nottingham, international relations professor Rory Cormac.
