  • EP. 93 - A Storm of Swords: Ch. 6-7

In A Storm of Swords, Sansa sups with Margaery and we consider what would have happened if she left King's Landing with the Hound. We discuss her character and her insistence on waiting for someone else to save her, and the two options of escape she must choose between. We also learn about Margaery's other siblings that weren't in the show. Also, how much did Loras love his king? Jon's chapter has us talking about milky water, why the name "The Weeper" is so scary, what it means to be "seasoned," turncoat versus turncloak, and how Mance is different in the show. Other topics include: aging, anti-vaxxers, botox, and Wendy Williams.

Character perspectives in this episode: Sansa and Jon...

  • EP. 91 - A Storm of Swords: Ch. 4-5

This whole episode is a downer. Jess describes her experiences with selective mutism and imposter syndrome, and Raven talks about her superiority complex. We also delve into how and why it's so difficult for us to make friends. In A Storm of Swords, all of Tyrion's hard work is undone in a matter of days and he must decide whether to whip Tommen in the streets. Davos loses his family and his most prized possession, considers naming a rock after himself, drinks his own pee, and craves violence.

Character perspectives in this episode: Tyrion and Davos...

  • EP. 90 - A Storm of Swords: Ch. 2-3

We hope you like the Weeknd, because we kick off this episode by talking way too much about his music. We also tell each other how we spent our Valentine's Days, and what tragic occurrence happened on Raven's birthday. In A Storm of Swords, we discover that Catelyn's sister Lysa has a mysterious past, as well as her father, which has us racking our brains for answers. We debate what the purpose of Arya's seemingly pointless chapter is, and wonder what it's like for those with external genitalia to ride a horse.

Character perspectives in this episode: Catelyn and Arya...

  • EP. 88 - Seraphina: Bonus Content (FINALE)

Welcome to the final episode of Seraphina and the last episode of season 4! Prepare yourself for a talk about our strange 2020 Christmas and our New Year's plans. In Seraphina, we get into the bonus content at the back of the book including The Audition - an extra chapter covering how Seraphina got her position as the assistant to the court composer - and a Q&A with the book's author, Rachel Hartman. We question why Hartman included The Audition as bonus content, and Raven explains her own take on bonus content. We learn more about Rachel Hartman and the creation of Seraphina, and Raven compares her own experience with writing. We learn about Raven's introduction to writing, the genre umbrella of speculative fiction, where inspiration comes from, the writing process, how much a writer puts of themselves into their characters, books that inspired us, and Jessica's experience with writing. Other topics include: sh**ty CGI, Final Fantasy, the representation of women in recorded history, Supernatural, judging books by their covers, and siblings' therapy. We also announce the next book we will be reading!... Thanks so much for listening! • EP. 87 - Seraphina: Ch. 35-37

Piercings, vacation time, and a COVID-19 rant! Jess and Raven speculate about Coronavirus deniers, and Jess wants a piercing that disgusts Raven. In Seraphina, we reach the final chapters! People straight-up die, we explore the glossary and cast of characters, Jess has a realization that makes Raven face-palm, we find ourselves proud of Papa, Phina walks in on Orma and Eskar doing the nasty, we finally learn Asspig's unbelievable backstory, Phina reveals her true feelings to Kiggs, and Jess gives her unanticipated opinion on the book as a whole. • EP. 86 - Seraphina: Ch. 33-34

We hope you're ready for lots of tea talk! Jess gives some fun facts about tea, which Raven forgets immediately, and Raven talks about her experience with matcha in Japan. We delve into the Mandalorian, and the introduction of Grogu's name and Ahsoka. In Seraphina, Asspig accuses someone else of sketchy behaviour and we are skeptical of the effectiveness of Kiggs's method of revealing the saar. We also find ourselves confused by Imlann's long and  messy plan to murder the royal family. Imlann's identity is revealed and Seraphina's secret is outed, and we learn about Imlann's skinny neck and Orma's skinny tail. We also find ourselves underwhelmed by the story's climax. And in Writing School with Raven, we learn about deus ex machinas... Thanks so much for listening! • EP. 85 - Seraphina: Ch. 30-32

This year, we are choosing to be excited about Christmas! Christmas trees, being rational adults, the Winter Solstice vs Christmas, and goofy decorations. In Seraphina, Phina meets Abdo face-to-face and we learn something about him that has us disgusted and horrified. We come up with a theory on why some of Phina's grotesques are self-aware and some are not, Raven relates to Viridius, Princess Dionne is a massive hypocrite, Comonot deals with one of the worst feelings a person can face, we rename the Earl of Apsig, and Josef shows his true colours. Other topics include: the smell of almonds, the sound of the oud, the FBI's Behavioural Analysis Unit, and a questionable use for charcoal... Thanks so much for listening! • EP. 84 - Seraphina: Ch. 27-29

We almost had to cancel this week's episode! We talk about purging old things, what makes a "man cave," designing tattoos, mixing types of tea, the history of Lipton, what exactly is orange pekoe, and the icon of the Mexican Dia de los Muertos. In Seraphina, Orma decides to be a villain, Basind gets straight up dead-ed, the Ardmagar acts sus af, and people get "modified." This book is getting real and Jess can't stop reading ahead! Phina gets caught between Comonot and someone who wants to murder Comonot, she reveals something to Kiggs, and Raven points out the pros and cons of puppeteering your characters in writing...
