Tea Is Good, Books Are Better

Wow! Three whole chapters! In this episode, we learn more about the 7 gods and try to figure out what's the deal with the Stranger. We meet a mysterious, cold-handed stranger north of the Wall, and Raven guesses who it might be. Jess tells us about how the Hound turns Arya into a burrito, and that Arya jumps into a fire. And Jon makes it back to Castle Black, only to learn what happened to Lord Commander Mormont and his two younger brothers, and to go to Confession with Maester Aemon.

It's episode 112 and we have one single chapter for you - a Catelyn chapter. Raven explains her thoughts on Cat getting more and more pointless as a character, we perform complicated arithmetic to figure out Edmure Tully's age, we try to break down Cat's continued hatred for Jon Snow, and Jess reveals some curious changes that were made for the show. We also discuss Raven gaining weight for the first time in her natural life, how much our lives have changed since we shared a room in our mom's little basement suite, and what we didn't expect from our first attempt at playing Dungeons & Dragons.

One chapter. One rant. Two sisters. In this episode, we ramble for way too long about our feelings on summer, we debate whether we live in a rainforest, and Raven goes OFF about what makes George R.R. Martin the most proficient writer she's ever read. Prepare to listen to her say the same thing a hundred different ways. Oh yeah, and in A Storm of Swords, Dany has her eye on someone sexy and finally tells off Jorah. She reaches Yunkai, where she makes her attempt to take the next slave city, and you won't believe the audacity of her! We also realize she may not want to know the truth about Rhaegar's character.

We worry for Brienne's future and we are thrilled by the introduction of a new major character - the Red Viper! The BC heatwave hits us like a bag of bricks. Raven goes on a wild goose chain for fans and kiddie pools, and Jess walks miles in the blistering sun. Jess considers stuffing her guinea pigs, Raven makes offensive assumptions about Yemen, a Dungeons and Dragons may be in our future.

This week's chapters of A Storm of Swords has us questioning everything! Edmure is cringy, we actually empathize with Lysa, a very sketchy letter comes from Winterfell, and the Freys make an offer that terrifies us. Davos is a badass and Raven finds herself relating to Stannis, oddly. Raven tells a story about being a stubborn stickler for the rules while working retail, and we find a word used by GRRM that may or may not be wildly offensive.

In this week's chapters of A Storm of Swords, Sam's chapter is a wild roller coaster ride. We are shocked by what occurs at Craster's Keep, and--for the first time in the series--Raven finds herself not fully convinced by the actions certain characters take. We find ourselves defending Craster, much to our bewilderment, and we compare the differences between Sam's chapter and the scene in the show. Arya comes face to face with someone on her kill list, and we meet Lord Beric Dondarrion and learn why there are so many opposing tales about him. We break down the differences between White Walkers and wights, and we attempt to determine how much time has passed since the beginning of the series. Other topics include: frostbite, Jake's favourite tea, vaccinations, and feeling like garbage.

In this week's A Storm of Swords chapters, we cover Jaime's broken sense of self after losing his hand and what this could mean for him as a person. We are also fascinated by the relationship brewing between him and Brienne. Lord Bolton makes an appearance and we can't quite figure out whose side he's on. Tyrion surprises us by being unsatisfied with Shey and we attempt to figure out Shey's motivation. Symon Silver Tongue makes a reappearance and we have a bad feeling that Tyrion's problems with him aren't over. Raven also tries to explain what "housekeeping" is to Jess when neither of our brains are working properly.

In today's episodes of A Storm of Swords, there are no less than three mystery characters to figure out in Arya's chapter - the angry Huntsman with a tragic backstory, the busty innkeep with a too-familiar name, and a newly-captured someone who may be on Arya's list of names. Jess is completely caught off guard when Raven points out another mention of the word "tansy," and we are forced to rethink our previous theory. Gendry is acting different, Raven forgets of Rickon's existence, and we learn how the height of the Wall compares to the tallest building in the world. We also learn the wildlings may have been the ones who awakened the White Walkers! Jess attends a Game of Thrones exhibit and gets a new car, and we discuss our province's new Covid restrictions.
