If your child has a hard time going to school or being separated from you, this is a book to read together.

I found a great new book for this week’s quality time.

“Zebra in the Mirror” by Tina Arnus Pupis and Marta Bartolj shows a zebra who struggles with humiliation about her appearance. Through a quiet reflection time, she is able to overcome the negative self-image and develop self-confidence. 

The story is written in an easy and simple way so toddlers and preschoolers can understand too. 

I tell you what scenes you want to see again and how to talk about a little deeper topics with your child. 

Healthy self-image and self-confidence are things that can be practiced from an early age. Learn about the book from me and have a meaningful quality time and conversation time with your child.

Do you know the scavenger hunt for mindfulness?

You get a paper that has pictures of different things. You take this paper with you and go outside.

As you walk in the nature, you will use your senses and find the pictured items on the paper. 

I’ve used the scavenger hunt for mindfulness many times in my past lessons. 

I’ve found a good book to teach about this kind of scavenger hunt. If you and your child are not familiar with the scavenger hunt yet, listen to this episode and learn about it.

What’s your first strategy that you use when you are worried? 

If you are in your 30s like me, I guess it’s likely that you have your own set of strategies.

But how about children?

Children sometimes feel anxious in their days too and do you think your child knows what to do when s/he is worried? 

If you never really talked about feeling worried or you want to bring the topic to your child for the first time, there is an easy and great book that can help you do that.

In this episode, I introduce you the book “Avocado Feels a Pit Worried” by Brenda Miles and teach you how to use this book to have a conversation about the topic of anxiety with your child.

What do you do when you feel down? 

The gloomy feeling brings more gloomy things to our day if we don’t try to change it. It’s because of the negativity bias of human. 

I know that it’s hard to realize when we are actually in the bad mood, and that’s why it’s important to prep ourselves before it happens. 

I can add one more tool to your bad-day-strategy list today.

We’re using a classical song “Over the Rainbow”. It’s nice to listen to it when you feel down but with the book that I found and an activity I’m introducing, it can be so much better. You can even enjoy the time with your little one, too.

It’s my favourite way of having a quality time with children.💕

It’s not hard to find information or advices these days. 

Ask your question on Google or go to any social media platform and type your concern. You will see endless search results.

The problem these days is there are too many other people’s advices and opinions, and we can get lost in there again. At one point last week, I got so overwhelmed and upset. I yelled alone, “I don’t wanna hear one more person talking about what I have to do!”🤯😶

It was time to turn inward, to look into my heart, to believe in me and to be me. I think it’s human nature that we are happier when we can be ourselves. 

But sometimes we need a reminder from someone. The book “Be You” can be your help. I read the book in my own words so that you can listen to it with your little one. (Because this is a lesson for everyone!)

This is to try something different and also to teach a lesson that it is a very special and grateful thing that we get a new day everyday for a new chance.
