The Sharks came to play this evening, first the Power Play would start the scoring early with a Timo goal coming 8 minutes into 1st. Matt Nieto would add to the scoring netting his 5th on the season burying a nice feed from Nick Bonino. Jonathan Dahlen would finally get that ever elusive 12th goal with a nice setup from Timo. Hertl would score the next 2 goals, one being on the Power Play and the other being the nail in the coffin for the Kings in the 3rd Period. Adin Hill would comeback after his extended layoff and pitch the shutout for the evening.

Sharks show a lot of pop with the return of Erik Karlsson to the lineup, his presence was felt on the first Power Play of the evening contributing the primary assist on Burns 6th goal of the season. However the Sharks would give up the next 2 goals on plays 8 seconds apart but Sawchenko would settle down. The teams would trade goals in the second period with the Sharks PP surrendering a shorthanded goal but atoning later in the period with a goal by Bonino. Sharks PK would rally for 4 critical kills showcasing the league’s second best PK unit. The Hertl OT winner was bitter sweet due to the team giving up critical point to the Kings who solidify 2nd place in PAC division. Landi and Ian breakdown the win and trade deadline implications.

The Sharks fall to Boston 3-1. The team looked like they were not ready for the 7:00 PM early start with a lack luster 1st Period. The Power Play which has been Jekyll and Hyde all year failed to convert on an early 4 min double minor, but would later tie the score up in the 2nd 1-1. The ever thorn in the side Brad Marchand would score twice, converting on a 2 on 1 situation and a Power Play influenced goal for Boston. To add insult to injury Mario Ferraro was injured on a reckless play by Taylor Hall who pushed Ferraro into the boards feet first, he would be unable to play the 3rd period. James Reimer would keep the team in the game with a .919 save percentage.
