We are joined on this episode by Ted Shaker and Garland Allen from InCourage.

Ted Shaker is a 13-time Emmy and two-time Peabody Award winning producer who has created networks, programs and developed talent for broadcast, cable and digital outlets for more than three decades.

As Executive Producer of CBS Sports, Ted was the creative leader behind seven Super Bowls, 10 NBA Finals, nine NCAA Tournaments, 12 Masters Golf Championships, three MLB World Series, eight US Open Tennis Championships and 11 Daytona 500s.

Ted co-created the country’s first 24-hour sports news network, CNN/SI and, in conjunction with Time Warner Cable’s groundbreaking Orlando Project, he led the design of the industry’s first Video-on-Demand sports beta test in partnership with the NFL.

Ted was Executive Producer of the ESPN 30 For 30 documentary “Mike and the Mad Dog,” about the radio program that helped create a new genre of radio – sports talk. The film held its world premiere at the 2017 TriBeCa Film Festival.

Garland Allen is a retired teacher, Athletic Director, coach of Basketball, Football and Track & Field, who served more than 35 years in public education. During his tenure as a high school coach, he coached several high school all-Americans with one going on to become an NCAA division I national champion and another who became a Super Bowl MVP and NFL Hall of Fame inductee. Garland spent more than 20 years as a Director of Athletics in Greenwich CT and Ridgewood NJ, two highly recognized athletic programs. He also spent eight years as the Director of Wellness for the Ridgewood NJ Public Schools.

Presently, Garland serves on the Advisory Board for the NYU Sports and Society Program, where he is actively engaged in research and programming on issues related to youth sports.

Garland is a Dr. Nettie S. Smith Lecturer who continues to do presentations on contemporary issues in youth sports, including how to develop healthy young athletes and the appropriate role for parents to play in their children’s sports experience.
