Video games seem to be getting their big moment in the media sun these days.
Properties like "The Last of Us" flourish on HBO. "Assassin's Creed", "God of War", and "Horizon: Zero Dawn" are all coming to streaming services. A new animated version of "Super Mario Brothers" will be hitting theaters next month. All of those properties have your hosts wondering ... what would they make into a movie or TV series.
Both Teebs and KidPhoenix will be given a figurative bag of cash comparable to the "Avatar" budget ($250 million for those scoring at home) and tasked with making their video game property to movie adaptation come to life however they see fit.

Your favorite nerdy brothers have returned! They're back. They're recharged. They're raring to go -- as evidenced by the title of this podcast.
In this podcast, Teebs starts out by saying that the patron saint of this podcast is the late, great George Carlin -- a man who routinely said how he felt and told it like it was. If you've listened to the podcast over the last two series, you know this to be true of your hosts.
With that in mind, let's open Series Three with a little free floating hostility. There are problems, items and issues that irk Teebs and KidPhoenix. There are WAY too many for one podcast (because we like to keep it under an hour), however, there are larger ones that come to the front of their brains. These are the ones that exit the brains and chests of your hosts. You can't (or shouldn't, at least) walk around with all of this frustration. Sometimes, you gotta let it out.
Well ... Teebs and KidPhoenix are letting it all out. Welcome back, ya'll! Let's have some fun.

In Part Two of the epic series two finale, some of the old crew from the Video Library return to join your hosts Teebs and KidPhoenix to do one thing and one thing only. They will be chiseling into rock the "All-Time, Forever and Ever Video Library Staff Picks Section". Each person on the panel will select one film that will go down in history as being selected by some of the most elite former video store employees that the city of Philadelphia (nay, the entire world) have or will ever see on this plane of existence.
Who will select what?
Where can I watch what they pick? (Check our social media pages.)
All that and more on the epic conclusion to Series Two of the Teebs & KidPhoenix Podcast!

When it comes to the period of time that shaped Teebs & KidPhoenix the most, many time periods can be pointed to: growing up in West Philadelphia in the 80s and 90s, living in San Diego and going to Comic Cons in the 2000s.
However, if there is one period of time that formed your nerdy, outspoken hosts the most, it would be the period of time where both Teebs and KidPhoenix worked at the Video Library in Philadelphia. The Video Library was an old-school video rental establishment that was a staple of the city of Philadelphia for decades. Many employees have accepted paychecks from the Video Library, and today (as well as next week), past employees join the podcast to reminisce about old times!
There will be funny stories. There will be references that may not be understood. One thing is clear. The Video Library and its employees were unique in their own way, and they were all nurtured. Join us for a trip down memory lane as well as get opinions of where media is now compared to how it was consumed back in the day before the explosion of the streaming service.

With Halloween in the rear view mirror (unless you're simply counting down the days until Halloween 2023), the next holiday on the calendar approaches just as Series Two of the podcast comes to its conclusion: Thanksgiving.
Regardless of how you feel about the history of the holiday, there's one thing that everyone can agree on. The food served at Thanksgiving dinner is epic on a level that defies description if you happen to have a family that gets down on the holiday like that -- or you have a friend who's family gets down on the holiday like that.
Many things are served at the Thanksgiving table from appetizers and sides to the main courses and desserts. Some things are exclusive to more melanin infused people, but that's okay. Your hosts, Teebs and KidPhoenix are here to guide you through the do's and do not's of the Thanksgiving Feast. These are merely opinions, folks. (Although some things are stone cold fact.) We'll get into all of that and more on today's podcast to get you prepared to put down multiple plates at your dinner of champions!

It is the final installment of the 2022 Teebs and KidPhoenix Halloween Spectacular!
Your hosts have a special treat in store. You've heard her before on reaction podcasts to bad takes that your hosts, Teebs and KidPhoenix have. The "special edition" podcasts are always a great time. Now ... BABY SIS COMES ON FOR A FULL PODCAST!
Baby Sis joins Teebs and KidPhoenix for a deep dive on the "American Horror Story" series. Since 2011, Ryan Murphy's unique horror show on the FX network has provided a new and terrifying tale every year around this time full of interesting stories, a solid, rotating cast with a blend of historical context -- or context related to present day in the case of "Cult".
Now, KidPhoenix is not as educated on the series as Teebs and Baby Sis, so they took this opportunity to educate him on what he's been missing. If you have similar interest in the series, then it's a good way to tap in to a one of a kind horror IP.

With two episodes left of the "Teebs and KidPhoenix Halloween Spectacular", your hosts go back to the directors' series.
One of the most recognized horror movies of all time ("Halloween") was created and made by John Carpenter. Carpenter was always his own director. He made the films he wanted to in the ways that he wanted. From straight up horror movies like "Halloween" and "The Thing" to more science fiction movies like "Escape from New York" or just weird fun movies like "Big Trouble in Little China", Carpenter dipped in many different genres from the 1970s until his last movie in 2010.
Your hosts rap about John Carpenter, his filmography and what came after his film making career -- which was a composer of the latest trilogy of Halloween films among many others.
Carpenter deserves his moment in the sun (and many more moments until the end of time).

A Teebs and KidPhoenix Halloween continues!
Your hosts love slasher films -- Teebs more than KidPhoenix since that's part of his job as a card carrying member of Horrorgasm. That being said, there have been a bevy of slasher properties since the original Friday the 13th movie. The most recent is Ghostface from the "Scream" franchise. The 25th anniversary of "Scream 2" is this year, but since your hosts did not record a podcast last year for the 25th anniversary of the original, they're doing it this year.
Scream is the slasher film that most born in 1980 and shortly after ride for most. That makes sense when you consider that generation was in high school at the time of the original film. That said, how well does this franchise stack up against some of the counterparts of its past? Scream drew from many inspirations such as Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloween (as well as a small nugget from Psycho).
It's cumulative. It's self-aware and very meta. It was unique for it's time when it released, but how do Teebs and KidPhoenix feel about it in 2022?
You'll find out!

The calendar officially says "October".
So begins the month long Teebs and KidPhoenix VS Halloween Spectacular!
For the entire month, your hosts are releasing topics of the spooky nature. Topics that chill the bones. Topics that heighten suspense. Topics that make you wonder what that "bump in the night" was as you're listening. (And all the other cliches having to do with scaring the hell out of someone.)
To kick things off, your hosts, Teebs and KidPhoenix are talking about horror video games. As great as horror movies are, sometimes, you want something with a more personal touch. Horror games are the best ways to immerse yourself in an absolutely terrifying atmosphere. Whether it's classics like Castlevania -- which your hosts are streaming every Tuesday night in October -- to more modern IPs like Dead Space or the newest Resident Evil, horror video games have solidified their place in the scope of Halloween enjoyment.
Happy Halloween from Teebs and KidPhoenix. Tis the season ... to look around every nook and cranny!

Since this is series two, it's only fair that your hosts do a true sequel.
It's a topic that is (not so) nice, but they're doing it twice because it's a conversation that has to be addressed. Teebs and KidPhoenix once again get on their soap boxes to call out toxic fandom for what they perceive to be for no reason. (We suppose it's a REALITY that some people engage in toxic fandom for reasons.) None of those reasons make any true sense in the opinion of your hosts.
There are ways to be a fan of a property or voice your displeasure about things, but not at the expense of the enjoyment of others. Your hosts continue on the idea that companies can't make changes to existing properties (see Disney's new "The Little Mermaid", for example) and not expect there to be backlash. There's also much more advocation for the advancement of original properties to limit such backlash from happening.
Take swings, Hollywood. That's all Teebs and KidPhoenix have asked for after 24 episodes of this podcast. They'll continue to try and bore that into your brains until you finally get it!
