When you watch television ... When you watch movies ... When you watch anything in the pop culture realm, you want whatever race, creed, sexual orientation, etc., to be "validated" as Teebs says on this podcast. That's where representation comes in. On today's episode, Teebs and KidPhoenix discuss the concept of representation -- strictly from an African-American male point of view. (The explanation for why they chose go so narrow is explained in the podcast.) But the duo explain what representation means to them and how things have been in pop culture with regards to representation for African-American males in pop culture and entertainment.

**Trigger warning: Points about racism, sexual assault, homophobia, and transphobia will be made on this podcast as part of our discussion on this topic.**
"Sometimes, we just want to make sure people know we're not just clowns out here. We have serious discussions about serious things." - Teebs
Today's episode is one of those topics. The idea of cancel culture has been in the consciousness of everyone over the last several years. It permeates into everything of our lives including pop culture, entertainment, politics, and so much more. Everyone has their thoughts on the subject, and Teebs and KidPhoenix have theirs. The brothers discuss some of the aspects of cancel culture, its history, and wishes they have for how society can progress forward in this new era.

Coronavirus. What can we say about it that hasn't been said, already? This pandemic sucks and continues to suck. It has fundamentally changed so many things about our way of life as it pertains to how we view new content. Netflix and Hulu have shown the ways to companies like Disney and TimeWarner, so Teebs and KidPhoenix discuss what the future of the movie industry could look like after we've reached that precious "herd immunity". What will the theater experience be? How much will streaming services play a part in the strategy for production companies in 2021 and beyond? It's all touched on in this podcast.

"All this content coming out. Is it just empty calories?"
That's how Teebs starts out this podcast, and it's an interesting one. Teebs and KidPhoenix are talking about fan service. Lost of entertainment companies are pumping out content targeted at specific parts of "nerd culture", but how much of it is actually good versus the ones that are basically done half assed to cash in? The dynamic duo discusses how things are in the Star Wars Universe with the sequel trilogy vs. The Mandalorian as well as how Marvel and DC are doing in the same veins.

It's time to get serious. Hopefully, that's not too much of a stretch for Teebs and KidPhoenix, but we'll see how this goes! Have you ever wondered about Black Cinema but have no idea how to go about it? What to watch? After the certified bona fides, what are those "deep cuts" that you never thought about? Well, that's the education Teebs and The Kid get into today. Each decade has its pieces of film that need to be recognized in order to get the full-ness of Black Cinema, and every decade is covered starting with the 1970s to the 2010s.

On this episode of "Teebs and KidPhoenix VS", your hosts with the most get into a very near and dear topic: video games. Video games are very influential to Teebs and KidPhoenix. They bred a sibling rivalry that was already pretty heated in the beginning, and it has kept growing ever since that first Ken vs. Ryu match in Street Fighter II. The pair discuss the Console Wars over the decades, where we've been, where we're at now, and most importantly ... what they consider (in their opinions) the best consoles they've ever gotten their hands and fingers on.
Special thanks and shouts to Joshua Morse (@JoshuaMorse) whose "Air Shooter" tune was used as the song for this episode.

This conversation had to be had within the first couple of episodes, so Teebs and KidPhoenix decided to do it, now. It's the sequels podcast, and the brothers are going all in on them. What are their choices for the best? The worst? The most over-rated? The most under-rated? They promised their intent wasn't to upset people or get them to angrily get into the DMs on Twitter, but if it happens, then so be it. (SPECIAL NOTE FROM THE HOSTS: Enjoy our discussion on why "Predator 2" doesn't get nearly as much praise as it should.)

It is the inaugural episode of the “Teebs and KidPhoenix VS” podcast! Thank you for bearing with us in anticipation. We’ve been teasing for about a month, now, but we’re delivering freshness to the people. This week’s episode is “staff picks”. Remember the old days where you’d walk into a video store or a music store, and there would be a shelf of selections by the gomers working there? That’s what this is about. We’ve chosen ten deep cut films (five from each of us) that we like that we believe should be checked out. It’s that human touch we’re going for in episode one. We want to connect with our listeners, and this is a good way to start.
