  • Virtual conference meetings reinvented making them more real and personable as you are immersed into the conference through voice proximity and EagleEye camera technology
Polycom has been the leader in the Office conference room for years and with these two announcements, they continue their leadership role. Michael Frendo, Polycom’s Executive Vice President of Worldwide Engineering, describes the enhancements to the conferencing solution to Don Witt of The Channel Daily News from Telecom Reseller.
The solution makes it easy for people to join and manage the Conference. The EagleEye follows the person speaking while providing screen shots of the conference room allowing viewers to visualize the speaker’s body language, as well as the others in the conference, providing another level of communication and enhancing the complete solution. Entering the conference remotely, once the video is enabled, it is as if you are sitting at the conference room table with the others.
With their Polycom Immersive Studio Flex, Polycom is making the technology more readily available to the SMB market segment. It is no longer exclusive to large corporate enterprise.  It also works with Skype for Business and various calendaring systems to make meeting set up very easy.

  • Carrier reporting to the FCC is required, but do all carriers comply with the FCC form 477? What is it?
FCC form 477 is explained to Don Witt of The Channel Daily News from Telecom Reseller by Hal Stringer, a consultant to Technologies Management, Inc. (TMI) and to the TMI clients. Form 477 has been around since the turn of the century.  While basic information was requested at the beginning, over the years, more and more information has been requested as it relates to the census tracts. It is getting very tedious and time consuming.  As with your taxes, it may be easier to have a Form 477 consultant work on the reporting.
Listen in on the discussion to find out:
    Requirements
    Penalties
    Demographics
Now that you have gathered and supplied the data to the FCC, you can also utilize the data to find out about your customer base. It will help carriers:
    Sales and Network planning
    Customer loss reporting
    Trouble areas
    Hot Spots
    Where is band width needed
    Etc.
The goal of TMI is to protect and increase the value of regulated businesses by offering comprehensive information tools, effective compliance strategies and sound business advice.
At Technologies Management, Inc., their greatest asset is their talented, experienced team of professionals. TMI’s premier regulatory consulting services and compliance reporting systems are implemented and supported by exceptional people. They are always interested in locating the best individuals with the skills and energy to help them grow, create optimum solutions, and thrive in the continuously evolving regulatory environment of the telecom and energy resale industries.

Last week, Avaya, a company with DNA that traces back to the making of the world's first phone call, declared Chapter 11. • Sonus Cloud Link solution integrates Microsoft CCE
Podcast on an “all-in-one” appliance that is easy to install and lowers the total cost of ownership
Migration to the cloud and to hybrid solutions is on. But the path can be complex, time consuming and expensive if changes are not well planned. In this podcast, Sonus Product Marketing Director, Walter Kenrich, walks us through the complexity and challenges of the paths of migration and how the Sonus Cloud Link solution integrates Microsoft CCE bridges a critical gap.
Skype for Business Online, sometimes referred to as Cloud PBX presents migration challenges. Microsoft has launched Cloud Connector Edition (“CCE”) which allows enterprises to leverage their on-premises PSTN connectivity to use with Office 365, enjoy a number of additional advantages of retaining currently deployed infrastructure. But this still leaves users with a setup process that can consume IT department time, require qualified technicians, an SBC, dial plan integration and security. In this podcast Kenrich describes how Sonus Cloud Link is an all-in-one appliance that closes that gap and cuts installation time by up to 90%.

It is very likely you already have a public address (PA) in place. It is separate or integrated with your PBX. You have not touched it in years. It is unlikely it is SIP compliant. As you move to an IP PBX so does your PA system has to evolve. Don’t take the PA system for granted. You can make it SIP compliant as well increase the system clarity by use high definition voice.
Tommy Lee, VP of VTech/Snom www.snom.com and Gary Audin discuss the use, deployment, and design considerations for a public announcement (PA) system. Tommy presents the PA design challenges and solutions for zone coverage. He describes how to make the PA components operate on an IP network.
    What You Will Learn:
    Public Announcement Problems
    Selecting a PA System
    The Value of Zones
    Design Challenges
    Solutions
Snom has developed a SIP bridge (PA1) https://www.snom.com/broadcasting/public-address-system/ enabling businesses to extend their existing public announcement speaker system while upgrading from digital/POTs systems into SIP-based voice communication solutions. The PA1 can be used in both small and large applications due to the inclusion of a 4-watt amplifier for single speaker projects. A microphone input is provided for two-way communication. Larger projects can utilize multiple speakers driven by external high wattage amplifier(s). The PA1 serves as an auto SIP answering preamp that drives the multi-speaker setup. Use of Snom’s proven SIP stack enables wide compatibility with all SIP platforms.
