In software-centric hyper-converged environment, the software, not hardware, controls the resources. It exists on top of a hypervisor. Application programming interfaces (APIs) and virtual machine (VM) translation technologies deliver the software control. Compute and storage resources can be modified in real time. The hypervisor can interoperate with another location. Cloud integration is enabled via APIs with all of the local, remote, and cloud resources managed as one large pool of a shared facility.
In this podcast, recorded at the International Avaya User Group conference, Scott McKechnie, VP of Engineering Solutions and Paul Leatherman, CTO of Communication Resources, Inc. (CRI) and Gary Audin discuss hyper convergence. They delve into high availability, fault tolerance, and compute and storage management. They discuss the life of servers to 7 plus years and the relocation of older technology within a virtual environment.
