  • Radio ITVT:Jenni Matz, Director of the Television Academy's "The Interviews"
    Earlier this month, the Television Academy Foundation launched a new online portal for "The Interviews: An Oral History of Television," its archive of recorded conversations with TV stars, show creators and behind-the-scenes innovators, spanning the entire history of the medium. The new portal is fully searchable and cross-referenced, and has been expanded to make available to the public over 4,000 hours of interviews.

    Jenni Matz, the Director of "The Interviews," recently spoke to ITVT Editor-in-Chief, Tracy Swedlow, about the new portal, its significance to the industry, and the Television Academy's plans for it going forward.

    Public Media Company (PMC), a non-profit strategic consulting firm that assists public broadcasters with business development and technology and service innovation, earlier this month hired Tim Hanlon--CEO of investment-advisory and strategic consulting firm, The Vertere Group, and a well-known figure in advanced-TV circles--as a key advisor to the Public Media Venture Group (PMVG). The latter is a group of 24 public television stations that are jointly exploring new business opportunities, technologies and services that will be enabled by the ATSC 3.0 (Next-Gen TV) standard.

    Dylan Collins is CEO of SuperAwesome, a provider of technology that is designed to enable "the global under-13 audience" to engage safely with digital media while maintaining their digital privacy. The company--which says that its technology footprint extends to almost half a billion children in North America, Europe and the APAC region, and which achieved profitability in Q4 2017-- recently launched a "content certification standard" for YouTube creators who are part of, or who target, the under-13 demographic.
