Hey, it's Michelle, and this early episode has three true ghost stories that cover three completely different kinds of contact between the living and the dead.

Christina is the host of Espooky Tales on the Scary FM Network, and she calls in with a true ghost story from her childhood in Oakland, California, that began as mockery and ended with a bruised tailbone and a lesson she has not forgotten. She was eleven years old. Her nine-year-old brother had always insisted he could see shadow people, and Christina and her twin were not taking him seriously. They were sitting in their father's trailer behind his car shop when her brother pointed out shadow people standing next to Christina, and she started fake punching the air where he was pointing. Her brother said they don't like it when you do that. The chair was pulled out from under her. All four legs had been solidly on the floor. She had not been leaning back. Something pulled it while she was sitting on it, and she fell hard. Her brother looked over and said see I told you. Their father's response when they ran to his office was that they should be more scared of the living than the dead. Christina was more concerned about her injured tailbone. Carla calls in with the shortest and most quietly devastating call in the early archive. She is living with the love of her life, who passed away in 2020. The love did not end. The presence did not leave. She has everything on film. She describes it as a gift that keeps on giving, and she means that without any irony. Phil from Chattanooga, Tennessee, calls in with his fourth story for the show, and this one is rooted in one of the most disturbing real-life scandals in Georgia history. Phil picked up a young man home from the Marine Corps who told him what had happened the day before when he tried to take a shortcut through the woods behind his house to his grandmother's. He got deep into the trees and stopped. Something felt wrong. Shadow figures appeared behind him. Then in front of him. Then, when he turned a full circle, they were all the way around him. The woods in question were the grounds of the Tri-State Crematorium in Noble, Georgia, where owner Brent Marsh was discovered to have stored over three hundred bodies in a barn rather than cremating them. A neighbor's dog dug up a skull. The FBI, the TBI, and state and local law enforcement descended on the town. The pond was drained. The property was demolished. Nothing can be built there. The bodies that could be identified were taken to Atlanta. The ones that could not were not. Phil says you can fact-check it. He is right.

Cindy Ketron from Avon, Indiana, calls in with a true creature encounter from the 1980s that her family has never forgotten. One evening, the power went out across the house. The dogs ran from the room in fear. Her mother opened the living room drapes and found a six-foot creature covered in black hair standing at the sliding glass door, growling, snarling, and slapping the glass as if trying to break through. Her father identified it as a Dogman and ran to his bedroom for his silver coin chest. He presented it to the creature through the glass. It howled and ran into the darkness. Michelle's research confirmed that the Michigan Dogman has been reported by over a hundred witnesses since disc jockey Steve Cook recorded a song about the legend in 1987 as an April Fool's joke and began receiving calls from listeners who said they had seen exactly what he described.

Hendel from Long Island, New York, calls in with three nights at a hostel in Los Angeles that built from unsettling to impossible. On the second night, a girl in the bunk room laughed loudly for fifteen minutes, and when Hendel turned on her phone light discovered the girl's head was now at the opposite end of the bed from where the laughter had come, her body completely switched with no way to have done it silently. On the third night, Hendel woke at 1 AM to the entire room shaking violently for twenty seconds. Every bed. Every object in the room. The next morning, the hostel reception had no idea what she was talking about. There was no earthquake recorded in Los Angeles that night. No geological sensor registered anything. Hendel is willing to dismiss one incident. Two incidents on consecutive nights with no explanation is something else.

A four-year-old girl in Queensland, Australia, who looked up and found a Tall Man standing in her doorway, and has been thinking about him ever since.

Cindy Ketron from Avon, Indiana, calls in with a true ghost story from a trip to Hollywood with her grandparents after graduating high school in 1977. Walking along the Pacific Ocean one evening, they were approached by a woman in a long white evening gown carrying white leather sandals who seemed lost and confused. Cindy and her grandmother were both psychic, and they recognized her immediately. It was Marilyn Monroe. She did not know who she was or where she was. When Cindy told her, she regained her composure and delivered her message. She did not commit suicide. Somebody else did it for her. Then she walked back down the beach with a man whose face they could not see and disappeared into the sunset, leaving a trail of footprints in the sand. Michelle's research confirmed that Marilyn Monroe's spirit has been reported across Los Angeles for decades, in her home, on the Santa Monica Pier, and in the ladies' rooms of hotels across Hollywood.

Adam from Decatur, Illinois, is a twenty-year paranormal investigator who always dismissed the question of whether something might follow him home from a haunted location until the summer of 2016. He and his friend Jake visited a house with a history of murder, suicide, a major fire, and construction on top of a Native American burial ground. They used a black mirror for scrying, experienced nothing unusual, and drove home in opposite directions, arriving back at roughly 1 AM. Adam got out of his car and was hit with an overwhelming feeling of absolute silence and the specific sensation of someone standing directly behind him. He turned around. Nobody was there. His phone rang immediately. It was Jake calling from his driveway six minutes away, asking if Adam was home and why it was so completely quiet outside. Two people. Two driveways. The same silence. The same presence. The same moment.

Hey, it's Michelle, and this early episode has two true ghost stories connected by one word. Attached. Something attached itself to two coffins used in a funeral home in Georgia and followed them into a Halloween spook house in Tennessee. And something attached itself to Rachel when she was four years old and has never let go in thirty years.

Phil from Chattanooga, Tennessee, calls in from his work managing foreclosed and abandoned properties in Rome, Georgia. The property had been a funeral home, sitting vacant for over five years. Phil went in for a routine inspection and found the basement fully intact. Embalming equipment. Preparation tables. And two coffins in a room off to the side. The mortgage company told him to take them to the landfill. Instead, a worker suggested his uncle's Halloween spook house in Chattanooga might want them. The uncle came and picked them up.

When the spook house opened months later, Phil got a call. The uncle wanted to know where those coffins had come from. His actors refused to get inside them. Things were moving around the space. Doors slamming. Objects falling. One or two actors said flatly it had to be the coffins. Phil later learned from a former funeral home employee that those two coffins had been used over and over for decades for every person scheduled to be cremated. A memorial service. The lid closed. An elevator down to the basement. The body removed and sent off. The coffin returned for the next one. Whatever accumulated in those coffins across hundreds of uses had no intention of becoming a Halloween prop.

Rachel from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, calls in with a paranormal attachment that began when she was four years old in South Point, Ohio, and has followed her through every home she has lived in since. Her brother reported their deceased great-grandmother appearing at his window after her death, but Rachel has always wondered whether it was actually her great-grandmother or something demonic using her face to get inside. Whatever it was, it stayed.

Thirty years later, Rachel still experiences paranormal activity, and the presence she senses is always the same figure, appearing in her mind whenever something happens, as if it wants to be recognized. Her first sleep paralysis episode at thirty-two ended with three long scratches on her makeup vanity that were not there before. When she described the experience to her mother, her mother's face went blank. The wall behind Rachel was turning black and appeared to be opening like a portal as she spoke. Cindy from Avon, Indiana, calls in with a true ghost story about Little Rachel, a young girl from Mitchell, Indiana, who burned to death in a Christmas fire. The connection began when Cindy donated two satchels of toys to Rachel's memorial at Christmas. Rachel followed her home and has been there ever since. Cindy is a retired Indiana State Police civilian with thirty years of service who has had Rachel investigated by paranormal researchers, captured EVPs connected to her presence, and watched Rachel possess a haunted doll that Cindy keeps to this day. Little Rachel is not threatening. She is persistent. And Cindy has made her peace with having a Christmas fire ghost as a permanent houseguest.

Phil from Chattanooga, Tennessee, calls in with a rental property just across the state line in Georgia with three identical houses twenty feet apart and a history Phil did not know when he bought it. One tenant was beaten to death with a hammer in the driveway. Another died of a fentanyl overdose on the property. The leaseholder's girlfriend had a stroke and was left permanently disabled. The leaseholder himself was given six weeks to live and lasted three. Every tenant reported seeing and hearing someone in the empty middle house. A neighbor told Phil that far more people had died there than Phil knew and that nobody in the neighborhood would dare set foot inside. Phil sold the property and warned the buyer. The buyer said he did not believe in hocus pocus. Two months after closing, the buyer had a medical emergency and was left with permanent disabilities. The property still looks exactly as it did five years ago. The buyer has never touched it.

Lauren from Round Rock, Texas, calls in with a haunting that began after a roommate returned from his older brother's funeral carrying the brother's sentimental belongings back to the shared apartment. That same night, Lauren's younger sister woke up in the living room and heard someone in the kitchen, opening cabinets, pulling drawers, rummaging around. Nobody was awake. Nobody was in the kitchen. Her sister called their mother and asked to be picked up before dawn. After that night, the kitchen cabinets started opening by themselves regularly. Every cabinet. Every drawer. Including the ones too high to reach. Lauren saw it herself when she and her friend fell asleep with the deadbolt locked and woke up to find every single cabinet and drawer in the kitchen standing open. Tyler from Texas returns with the second of his two paranormal stories, and this one goes to a darker place than his first call. After a tragic car accident outside his apartment in Oak Cliff, Dallas, something moved in with him. What Tyler came to believe he was dealing with was a succubus, a malevolent spirit with a specific and documented history across cultures that dates back thousands of years. Tyler sought the help of a priest. The activity eventually subsided. Tyler has thought about why ever since.

Gabby from Texas calls in with a haunted house story that is not about a single encounter or a one-time event. It is about living inside a paranormal situation every single day. Strange things are happening in the morning. At night. In the ordinary moments of domestic life that are supposed to feel safe. Gabby's house has made it clear on a regular basis that she is not the only one there, and she has had to figure out how to keep living in it anyway.

Karl from Texas describes a paranormal presence inside his church, the specific and deeply unsettling experience of feeling something wrong in a space that is supposed to be protected. Churches have some of the most documented paranormal histories of any building type, and Karl's encounter adds to that record with the kind of specific detail that makes it impossible to dismiss.

LaSondra calls in with a ghost encounter that happened in the most private and ordinary space in her home, and discovered that privacy means nothing to whatever was sharing her bathroom. The shower ghost is specific in what it did and how it made itself known, and LaSondra has not entirely reconciled herself to the experience since.

Alexandra from Texas takes us house hunting and finds something she was not looking for. Alexandra was simply trying to find somewhere to live when the properties she was touring made clear in their own ways that they already had occupants who had not agreed to leave. Texas strikes again.

And finally, Lauren calls in with her experience of spirit orbs, the specific and widely debated paranormal phenomenon that sits at the intersection of photography, consciousness, and the question of what exactly a spirit looks like when it decides to make itself visible. Lauren's encounter with a black orb in her boyfriend's house was connected to the spirit of a previous owner who apparently never finished being there, and her perspective on what she saw and what it meant is one of the more thoughtful paranormal accounts in the early archive.
