In this episode we are going to discuss the power of story. Through my own journey with PTSD as a Police Officer I stopped sharing and believing in my own story. I began suffering in silence unable to express, process or share the impacts that first responder trauma had on myself. As time went on and my PTSD grew I eventually faced addiction.
It was in rehab where I learned that the only way to truly overcome addiction was to be able to share openly your pain, your struggles which had lead to a place of addiction. While I wasn't immediately ready to share my story and it still took years to navigate the pain from my experiences as a Police Officer I did slowly begin telling my story a year ago on another social media platforms.
It was there that I learned that there is no shame in telling your story. I was met by a group of compassionate people who understood my struggles and allowed a level of healing to happen that I never expected.
My story is for those that continue to suffer either alone or in silence. There is always hope. And in time when you are ready to share your pain and your story you will begin to also heal in ways you never expected.
Vulnerability and the authentic self are ever present in this episode as we set the stage of the level of importance of the ability to share your own story. Stay humble, much love!
