Today's (yesterday) Earth Day and so Sheba and I went to a trail that I don't hike on very frequently! I also talk about my bicycle day ride and the weaponization of ticks! It's a beautiful day to get outside provided you have the health and means to do so! Cactus carl is also doing well, and the new growth is a couple months away from being ready to propagate! This week Sheba and I are exploring the site of the abandoned graves that used to be part of the Central State Hospital also known as the Lakeland Asylum. I decided to do this today because I started my first of many EMDR therapy sessions this past Monday and wanted to reflect a bit on how appreciative I am that mental health treatments have come so far in this part of the world. PTSD, Bipolar, and ADHD are a hell of a mixture to live with every day and I'm glad I can get treatment and go home afterwards instead of have to spend my time in a hospital. 

I also share some brief Bicycle Day history and thoughts before going back to hang out with Cactus Carl in the Cactus Creation Tent! We're seeing a lot of growth on that side and I am grateful to have infinite cactI!

Today, I'm heading down the other direction on the Louisville loop trail from three weeks ago, I realized that I hadn't actually been that far down and wanted to see where it lead to! It's a nice walk and I wanted to get it in before the data center is built and the environment gets fucked down there! It's sad to see how things change sometimes, so enjoy them while you still can! I'm thinking about getting my bike out there to ride the whole trail and into Jefferson Memorial Forest for bicycle day if I can! This week, I'm officially 30 years old. It feels weird to say that but it happens to most people at some point! I'm grateful for the ability to get outside today and enjoy the weather with Sheba and I'm grateful for the cactus in all of its collective wisdom! Tonight, I'm going to get some steak frites and watch the storm roll in, maybe even get a post storm walk in who knows! This week I decided to go enjoy the weather with Sheba at a park that I haven't catalogued on here yet and visit an old spot where I hadn't been to in quite some time. This is the last hike before I turn 30 next week and I am grateful to have made it this far. Every day past 18 is a gift based on how I used to live and being able to be up walking around and breathing the air is something I never take for granted.

Also! In cactus news, Cactus Carl has sprouted another growth site and I am proud to see how much this cactus has grown since I obtained it. Bless-ed be the Trichocereus Bridgesii Monstrose!

This week I decided to take Sheba on a walk at a place that I hadn't been to in 20 years. When I was a kid, my mom was on the urban planning team in Louisville and we had to go out and make sure that this section of the Louisville Loop was done properly before it was opened to the public. For some reason I've been having a recurring dream about that day this past week and I wanted to see if I could uncover the reason why by exploring it today. Sheba and I got in a good 5 miles of a walk today and I am grateful to be able to enjoy the weather in that way! This week I'm taking Sheba for another walk after having found a new therapist to work with. The initial meeting was good and they recommended to me that I undergo EMDR therapy; this will hopefully help me deal with past traumatic experiences in a constructive way and allow me to be more resilient when I come across new ones going forward. I also revisit some past fun memories! We got in a good 5ish miles today and I'm glad I was able to capture one of the more positive days that I've had so far this year! It's getting to be spring time around this way and unfortunately it's been a whirlwind of change since the past episode! I've been dealing with the death of a family member and my friend going back down a bad path with alcohol. This time of year is always representative of new growth for me, however that doesn't always mean its fun and easy. They call it growing pains for a reason I suppose. This week we're taking a look inside the tent to see the new growth that's been happening on Cactus Carl! I've been learning a bit more about caring for TBM cacti and it's paid off in two new pups! They sprang up about a week and a half ago and have been growing vigorously ever since! It's been a strange week again over here, so the 2nd part of this episode is spent out in the woods. This week is a stream of consciousness episode where I continue the hike from last time! I talk about a lesson that I've learned from not consuming cannabis, my hopes for a peaceful and unified future for our species, and we end the hike with heading to one of the bigger creek beaches along Floyd's Fork.
