Wayne Cleveland is an iconic local from the Southern Sydney suburb of  Maroubra. Big wave charger and life-long surfer, Wayne is a larger than life character that is full of charisma, energy, and an innate kindness that underlies his robust stature and presence. This week, Wayne shares openly and honestly about the events of his wild life so far... Charging big waves, cocaine smuggling, being under police surveillance, 10 years of prison time, getting (and staying) sober, using prison time to work on himself, his passion for hunting big waves (every single swell), harnessing his entrepreneurial spirit in a positive way, and much much more.  It's raw, real, and at times confronting to hear Wayne's story, but it has a resounding redemptive nature to it. For me,  I learnt that while there is still breath in your lungs, it's never too late to start again. You are only a product of your past if you allow it, you don't have to be defined by it.

Wow. What an absolute banger of a final episode for the year! Simon Wills is a pure skateboarder. And like most of my skateboarding related episodes, we barely talk about skateboarding. Instead, Simon takes us on a journey into his early years growing up in government housing in the South Western Sydney suburb of Campbelltown, he gives us an insight into the violent and often drug-fuelled culture that emerges in such areas, he talks about managing skate shops, working with the brand Globe, his very different personal drug-use story, his family breakdown, making amends, the importance of authenticity, and much much more. There is so many layers to this conversation, I struggle to keep up. Friend, past guest, social worker, University lecturer, rad human and literally my personal favourite skateboarder, Mr Tim Conan co-hosts this week. 
I'm taking a break until the 8th January 2023. Big thanks for listening, supporting, sharing, laughing, crying, and for joining me on this journey. Lots of amazing episodes planned for 2024 already!

Josh Ku is a well loved, and renowned surfer from the east coast of Australia. He has proven himself time and time again at the most infamous slabbing waves around Sydney, the South Coast of New South Wales and beyond. A waterman in the truest sense. This week, Josh joins me live and in-person to discuss his lifetime in the ocean, his childhood in the eastern Sydney suburb of Maroubra, chasing extra large swells, escaping to Puerto Escondido Mexico during the lockdown for the sake of love,  spearfishing adventures, foil surfing, and a step by step recount of "that" amazing wave he caught at Deadman's reef on one of the swells of the year.  Josh is a calming, kind, and jovial presence who is innately uplifting to those around him. I found him really intriguing. He just makes you smile and you don't even realise you are smiling. Surround yourself with people like Josh Ku....
We recorded at Josh's house, over a meal of freshly caught Kingfish Sashimi. It was very nice.
