Joel Mowdy is the critically acclaimed author of Floyd Harbor: Stories, a collection of twelve linked stories that take place in and around Mastic Beach, a community on New York's Long Island that's close to the wealthy Hamptons but afflicted by widespread poverty. Joel lived there in a family of thirteen until he left for the University of Michigan, where he completed a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction. He has since worked in progressive education on three continents, most notably as a high school Literature teacher at one of the most unique and progressive international schools in Bali. Joel discusses the challenges he faced growing up in a large family, teenage angst, how he discovered writing, his creative processes, giving up the 9 to 5 to pursue his passion and much much more.

Neville 'Nev' Hyman is a surfer, surfboard shaper, entrepreneur, conservationist, humanitarian and progressive systems-based thinker. Throughout the 80's and 90's Nev was one of the most prolific surfboard shapers of the time. His brand NEV and NEV Future Shapes were sought-after globally and ridden by the world's best. Nev then went on to create the highly popular FireWire Surfboards in 2006 which is still an industry leader in eco-friendly and zero waste manufacturing. Mike Long is the Director of Global Operations at Parley for the Oceans.  Mike has worked on marine conservation initiatives all over the world, from the Maldives to Alaska. He has led direct action campaigns for Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, where he stood on the front lines defending whales in the San Ignacio Lagoon and, led the first partnership with the Ecuadorian government protecting sharks in the Galapagos. Now, he’s creating change in the fight to end marine plastic pollution in his work at Parley and their various collaborators. Mike discusses growing up in Newport Beach California, working on fishing boats in Alaska, connecting with a pod of Orcas and much much more...
