Ed Howard is the top prep short stop in this years 2020 MLB Draft. In this series, this is the first time I have the Texas Rangers taking a high school prospect just because of all the uncertainty with the coronavirus. Howard has solid tools all around the board, which is coveted in a premium position. He is also only 18 years old so there is plenty of room for upside. He is an Oklahoma commit so if the money is not there he could take his talent to the college realm. The player comparison for Ed Howard would be the Rangers own in Elvis Andrus as they are not elite, but they use their speed and their defense to prove their worth at the big league level.

Garrett Mitchell would be the ideal selection in the 2020 MLB Draft for the Texas Rangers and Jon Daniels as he might be the only five tool prospect in the entire draft class. It might be a longshot that Garrett Mitchell slides all the way to the Rangers at pick 14, however his Type 1 diabetes might steer teams away from the UCLA outfielder. Garrett Mitchell would be a no brainer selection if he was still on the board and I was in Jon Daniels shoes, as he has the potential to become an All-Star at the next level.

On the Texas Rangers Report this is my second video breaking down a potential 2020 MLB draft prospect for the Texas Rangers. This time it was right handed pitcher Cade Cavalli from Oklahoma University. Cavalli is rumored to go anywhere from the middle of the first round to the late second round in June. When I look at Cavalli as a prospect he has four really good pitches being his fastball, curveball, slider, and his changeup. The one thing that is holding Cavalli back from being drafted higher in this years draft is his lack of command on his pitches. If worst came to worst he could be a really effective reliever at the next level with a nasty combo of his fastball, curveball, and slider. If the Texas Rangers were to select Cavalli I would definitely be okay with the selection, even though I view him more as a project player.

As the 2020 MLB Draft approaches I break down a potential prospect for the Texas Rangers in North Carolina State catching product Patrick Bailey. Bailey would be a nice pick up for the Texas Rangers as he is the best defender in the 2020 draft class and has the potential to add some pop to his game. With the virus this year whipping out college and high school sports it will be though to predict where prospects will go, but I think it is unanimous that Patrick Bailey is a first rounder in the eyes of every single major league baseball organization.

In this episode I will be scouting and analyzing the Texas Rangers #2 prospect in Sam Huff. We all know Huff's power is unreal and is drawing some considerations to Rangers All-Star Joey Gallo. Although I will be seeing if Sam Huff has what it takes to be an everyday catcher at the big leagues for the Texas Rangers.
