Star Trek Stays on Amazon Prime.
A while back we talked about the fact that Star Trek was leaving the Amazon Prime streaming service in February. Suddenly now the countdown that was being displayed in the Prime interface has disappeared, so it seems that departure is no longer imminent. Does this signal a change in tactic for CBS? It's unclear. But it does look better for those who want to keep Trek on their favorite streaming service. We share our thoughts on the new development.

Star Trek goes plush, plastic, and precious.
As we head farther into this anniversary year, Star Trek licensees are assembling a fleet of new toys and collectibles to launch a full-scale invasion of our fandom—and many of these items are on display at the annual Toy Fair in New York City. Ranging from plush animals to starships to forget-me-nots, there's a lot to like in this latest lineup. And if chess is your game, well, you'd better start exhibiting three-dimensional thinking. We run down some of the highlights of the Toy Fair.

Abrams II, Part 6: Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.
Running Time: 1 hour 10 minutes 10 seconds
Happy with the results of Mission: Impossible III, Tom Cruise and Paramount chose to continue their collaboration with J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot for the fourth film in the franchise, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. While Abrams would not direct the film himself, he would oversee it as producer. This production should be especially to fans of Star Trek, as it closely mirrors the relationship which Abrams has with the 50th anniversary movie, Star Trek Beyond.
In this episode of Commentary: Trek Stars, Mike and John are joined by Adam of The Red Shirt Diaries to look at Brad Bird's Ghost Protocol. We discuss how our thoughts have changed since its initial release, what Bird brought to the project as a director, and what this film tells us about Star Trek Beyond. We also profess our love for Robert Elswit.

Could Bryan Fuller reboot TNG?
We now know who will helm the new Star Trek series coming in early 2017. But what form might that series take? Where on the timeline will it fall? Will it be prime universe or Abramsverse. No one knows. But Bryan Fuller might. He has made comments in the past about things he would like to do with Star Trek. And citing pieces from Crave Online and Variety, Michael Hinman speculates that this could mean a reboot of The Next Generation. We share our thoughts on the possibility.

Now that he has been named co-creator and executive producer of Star Trek 2017, what might be in the cards for this next incarnation of Gene Roddenberry's vision? Star Trek historian Larry Nemecek joins us for a quick chat about why he's so excited about the appointment and what we might see from Fuller.

Dad builds son an Enterprise bridge.
If you’re like many kids, you probably had a playset based on your favorite franchise when you were growing up. And chances are that playset was made of cardboard or plastic. Inspired by his collection of TOS Playmates figures, one dad took it upon himself to recreate the original 1701 bridge from real wood … to the delight of his eight-year-old son. We take a look at this amazing project.

William Shatner might play Kirk again.
Rumors were flying around for a long time that Shatner might appear in Star Trek Beyond as Kirk—and reportedly Orci, Payne, and McKay even had a story that included this. Those rumors were put to bed, and Shatner himself denied them as recently as last month in a Hollywood Reporter piece. But in a new piece from Hollywood Report—which draws upon an interview they did on their Awards Chatter podcast—Shatner says that he might yet return to play Kirk. We share our thoughts on the subject.
