Abrams II, Part 5: Morning Glory.
Running Time: 47 minutes 35 seconds
After a successful reboot of the Star Trek franchise in 2009, J.J. Abrams put his producer hat back on the following year for Roger Michell's Morning Glory. The film stars Rachel McAdams as the producer of a daily morning news/talk show. In an effort to boost ratings, she hires a legendary reporter played by Harrison Ford to anchor the show, against his better judgment.
In this episode of Commentary: Trek Stars, John and Mike take a look at Morning Glory. We discuss how the movie differs from other Bad Robot productions, the filmmakers involved behind the scenes, and long-time collaboration between Abrams and Ford.

And Nichelle Nichols, the actress who played the ship’s communications officer, has offered her support as the official spokesperson. Concept art reveals new starship from Beyond.
From the Star Trek Beyond trailer we learned that there is a new Federation starship in the story called the U.S.S. Franklin. But what that ship looks like from the outside has remained a mystery. But now we have some information thanks to DB Wilson, a Star Trek fan who won a framed 20" x 36" poster as part of the fundraising contest that Omaze ran last year, and TrekCore, who shared the images. We share our thoughts on the design and the role the ship might play.

The initial trailer for Star Trek Beyond has stirred up far more debate than Paramount probably expected. It fell short of the expectations of fans, and has even been criticized by the film’s writer, director, and cast. Attempting to shed more light on the actual tone of the movie, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pine, and Karl Urban spoke to Entertainment Tonight about what Beyond might really bring. We share thoughts on what they said.

Trek leaves Amazon Prime. Is Netflix next?
Fans of Star Trek who are also Amazon Prime subscribers may have noticed that a countdown to departure has appeared alongside the various Trek series. The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise all show text that reads "Leaves Prime in xx days." The counter will reach zero on February 15, at which time this content will no longer be available on the Amazon Prime platform. This has caused a bit of a stir and cries of distress from many fans who rely on streaming to get their Trek. We share our thoughts on what the change may mean for the future of streaming Star Trek.
