Top Rank announced today the signing of undefeated heavyweight knockout artist Efe Ajagba to a long-term promotional agreement.

Ajagba, 26, the Nigerian-born former soccer player, turned pro in 2017 after a decorated amateur career that included a berth at the 2016 Rio Olympics. A three-year professional, he has risen the ranks of the young heavyweights and is already rated in the top 15 by two of the major governing organizations.

Ajagba will make his Top Rank on ESPN debut in 2020 on a to-be-determined bill. He has also enlisted the services of manager James Prince and head trainer Kay Koroma.

“I made this decision to become a better boxer and to advance my career. That’s why I signed with James Prince and Top Rank,” Ajagba said. “When I return to the ring soon, you will see a new Efe Ajagba. Kay Koroma and I are working on my head movement and defense, as I seek to become a more well-rounded fighter.”

“Efe Ajagba is one of the most gifted young heavyweights I’ve seen in quite some time,” said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum. “He has immense physical tools and a great work ethic. I have the utmost confidence that we’re looking at a future heavyweight champion.”

At 6-foot-6 and 240-plus pounds, Ajagba (13-0, 11 KOs) is one of the division’s most intimidating physical specimens, a natural puncher with six-first round knockouts on his ledger. He holds the record for the fastest victory in boxing history when, in August 2018, Curtis Harper walked out of the ring one second after the opening bell sounded. The disqualification win ended Ajagba’s string of knockouts, and he would score four more knockouts before being taken the distance for the first time in his career. Ajagba last fought March 7 in Brooklyn, knocking out former world title challenger Razvan Cojanu in nine rounds.

With all due respect to Mr. Hearn, who seems to have a lot to say about everyone else’s bussiness, should manage his own affairs across the pond, and let everyone else do the same. His opinion is not the absolute voice on what’s good for boxing. Carry on 👍🏽.

1. Pacquiao-McGregor next?! McGregor sends cryptic message through social media.
2. Edgar Berlanga says he needs 2 years to be ready for Canelo, but is it a fight that could sell now? How much bigger could it get?
3. De La Hoya tweets “stop f***ing around” when it comes to making Ryan Garcia-Luke Campbell final.
4. Tyson tells TMZ: “This is search and destroy and I’m looking forward to recapturing my glory... If the opportunity comes [I'll go for the knockout], I'm always looking for it.” Do we actually want to see one of these guys knocked out? Could this get more violent than a “hard spar?”

Notes:
- Angelo Leo vs Stephen Fulton: does the postponement work better for the two fighters’ build up?
- Broner says he can “destroy” the competition at 135... do we believe you or do he need more people?

10 x 3 mins vacant English Heavyweight Title
FABIO WARDLEY 16st 0lbs 0oz/224LBS vs SIMON VALLILY 16st 0lbs 8oz/224.5LBS
(Ipswich) (Middlesbrough)
Fabio Wardley – Ipswich, England – 8-0, 7 KOs – fighting Simon Vallily for the vacant English Heavyweight Title:

"On Saturday it's the big test. Like everyone has been saying, it's the coming-out party, the announcement, the real test to get rid of some of those question marks people have about me. I expect Simon to bring the heat full force. He says this is the best shape that he's been in and he's been able to train properly with the lockdown. He's fully focused on the gym and his training. Hopefully on Saturday night, I get the best Simon Vallily. Hopefully I'll then get the credit for taking on a real competitor and getting the win."

Simon Vallily – Middlesbrough, England – 17-2-1, 7 KOs – fighting Fabio Wardley for the vacant English Heavyweight Title:

"I don't think he's man enough to grow a real mustache, is he. It doesn't suit him. It's a great chance and a great opportunity. I'm in great shape for it. I've applied myself properly. I'm focused and I've trained well. I've trained hard. I've trained properly and I've done it all right. Fabio possesses some talent, I'm not going to sit here and say he doesn't. He's fast and he's athletic but the best Simon Vallily beats the best Fabio Wardley. We haven't seen the best Simon Vallily, I'm sick of going on about it. I think he might be expecting the Simon Vallily from the Craig Glover fight. He's managed by Dillian Whyte, wow. I haven't lost no sleep over him."
