Keith Thurman has taken money out of the bank to make several bets on himself later this week at MGM Grand’s sports book.
The unbeaten WBA welterweight champion will wait, however, until the odds on his fight against Manny Pacquiao favor him some more. Thurman was a slight favorite when their fight first was announced, but Pacquiao was the favorite Wednesday at MGM Grand (-155/+135).

Golden Boy and Canelo Alvarez have made the strategic decision to postpone their typical September fight. The decision was made in an effort to secure the right opponent and to do justice to the level of promotion required for a boxing star of his magnitude. Though Canelo typically fights in May and September, it is not without precedent to fight later in the year as Canelo did fight in December of 2018 in Madison Square Garden. Canelo's next fight will now take place later in 2019.

"As a Mexican, it's a responsibility and an honor to represent my country in both May and September," said Canelo Alvarez. "Those are my dates. However, as a world champion in multiple weight classes, I also have the responsibility of delivering the most exciting and competitive fights possible. That's why Golden Boy and my team have decided to postpone the date in order to do right by my fans by promoting the best fight possible and with the best opponent possible."

Two of boxing biggest stars kicked off fight week in style on Tuesday as eight-division world champion Senator Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao and unbeaten WBA Welterweight World Champion Keith "One Time" Thurman made their grand arrivals at MGM Grand before their highly-anticipated Premier Boxing Champions on FOX Sports Pay-Per-View showdown this Saturday night from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
As BoxingScene.com previously reported, eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao has not signed a contract to take on Amir Khan in Saudi Arabia later this year despite claims that a deal has been agreed for the bout.
Khan, who beat Australia’s Billy Dib in Jeddah on July 13 to win the WBC international welterweight title, said on Tuesday that he had agreed a deal to fight Pacquiao in Riyadh on Nov. 8.

Thank you. I'd like to thank everyone for joining the call today. Mayweather Promotions is really thrilled to bring this very exciting event to where it all started for our two-time super featherweight champion, who really beat the odds to making it to where he is now and it's only really the beginning for Gervonta Davis.

"At this moment in time, no-one will sign up to a rematch because people will want to see how Ruiz and Joshua play out," said Bellew told PA.

"Deontay Wilder will be waiting to see what happens, purely because Ruiz and Wilder fall under the Al Haymon promotional banner, and that will be the fight that will happen. Al Haymon will want there to be one champion, one face, and he will want that face to be Deontay Wilder.

It could be something of a quick turnaround for the American to compete in November (depending on the date) and then get back in the ring for February, given he is currently fighting roughly once every six months or so.

Regardless, Wilder vs Fury II does seem destined to take place so long as both men come through their next outings – it just may happen slightly later than originally thought.
