ನಮಾಮಿ ವೃಷಭಾವತಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ನಿವೇದಿತ ಸುಂಕದ್ ರವರು ಈ ಚಳುವಳಿಯ ಮುಂಚೂಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವವರು. ರಾಜರಾಜೇಶ್ವರಿನಗರದ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಾದ 'ಐ -ಕೇರ್ ' ನ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟೀ ಮತ್ತು ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ, ಅರಣ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಕೆರೆಗಳ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ದುಡಿದಿರುವವರು.

Vrishabhavathi was once a seasonal river rising from Malleswaram and Basavanagudi, the heart of Bengaluru. Today it's a series of polluted, filthy drains and lakes. Namami Vrishabhavathi  is a citizen-driven campaign with a vision of having a clean and natural river flowing in the heart of Bengaluru. The campaign combines deep technical research, advocacy with the state and city governments to implement new programs, legal efforts to improve enforcement of pollution laws, and the creation of a movement among residents of the Vrishabhavathi valley to improve solid waste and sewage management, as well as to bring together lake rejuvenation effort. Niveditha Sunkad  is the President of the Namami Vrishabhavathi Foundation, currently driving the “Save Vrishnabhavathi Nadi” campaign. She is also a trustee of RRNagar - I Care, a citizens’ forum in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, and is actively involved with waste management, forest and lake conservation efforts in the area.

Prakash M Kanive  is a Trustee of the Namami Vrishabhavathi Foundation, and looks at data management and geospatial application and has been instrumental in mapping the catchment, as well as the overall land use and land cover of the Vrishabhavathi Valley. He also works at Eco Spatial Solutions, Bengaluru and is a widely published researcher.

Dr HS Sudhira got his PhD from the Indian Institute of Science, and started Gubbi Labs, a research collective based out of Gubbi, near Tumkur. Gubbi Labs conducts research, workshops and consulting on a host of issues ranging from mapping, urban planning, environmental conservation and more.

Dr Chandan Gowda joins Surya Prakash BS and Pavan Srinath for a wide-ranging discussion on Episode 34 of the Thale-Harate Kannada Podcast. Chandan is a Professor of Sociology at Azim Premji University, and is currently completing a book on the cultural politics of development in old Mysore. He has also translated the Kannada novella Bara by UR Ananthamurthy in English and is translating several short stories of KP Purnachandra Tejasvi.

What is the science in political science? What questions do people ask and answer when researching politics? Varun Ramachandra talks to Pavan Srinath about his life in political science research on Episode 33 of the Thale-Harate Kannada Podcast.

Varun K Ramachandra is a doctoral student at the University of Rochester, in political science. Previously, Varun worked at the Takshashila Institution in Bengaluru and in consulting, and studied engineering and mathematics before moving into public policy and political science.

Bengaluru has been called a garden city before, but what is a garden? Is it a manicured lawn, or something closer to a Thota, something in between a home garden, orchard and plantation? Even as public and private trees are being mown down, the city retains an important connection with its trees, many of which have originated from all over the world.

Dr Harini Nagendra joins Surya Prakash BS and Pavan Srinath to talk about trees, their connection with cities, and their history in Bengaluru and elsewhere. They also take a look at how a lake and its surroundings have changed in Bengaluru over the last 200 years.

Harini is a Professor of Sustainability at Azim Premji University, and is the author of several books, including Nature in the City: Bengaluru in the Past, Present, and Future (OUP 2016) and her latest, Cities and Canopies: Trees in Indian Cities (Penguin 2019).
