Today, I'm sharing my best gratitude habits and practices that can and should be implemented on a daily basis. Remember, how we spend our days ends up being how we live our life, so I chose to get really intentional about how I was going about each day. Once I found one habit that worked for me it all became easier to implement regularly … SPOILER ALERT.. it was #1 ;)
I hope these 10 simple habits really help you add more gratitude to your life, which in turn will increase your happiness. Can I get a hell yeah!?
10 Ways To Feel Grateful Each Day
Have some kind of signal or trigger that reminds you to practice gratitude. One example can be seeing a bird and then listing off what you’re grateful for.
Start your morning with five things you’re grateful for. Do this while doing something you already naturally love.
When you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed, name what part of the situation you are grateful for. If it’s a stressful day, go out of your way to compliment someone. If you feel ballsy spark up a conversation.
Make a list of things that you’re grateful for that make you extremely happy.. like actually change your mood, happy. Pull that list out when you’re having a hard time getting into a grateful mood.
"Grateful Minute" reminder. Ask anyone around you when that alarm goes off what they are grateful for.
Surround yourself with people who practice gratitude regularly. This includes your social media, entertainment, coworkers and friend groups.
Call, text or connect with someone each day and remind them that you’re grateful for your relationship.
Claim your new emotional home. Act like the card you were dealt was the one that you wanted all along. Gratitude is now the emotion you come home to (it's no longer stress, overwhelm, fear, anxiety, etc).
Identify your anti-self versus best self personalities. Name the person who is grateful verses the person who always sees things with the glass half empty.
Can you believe some reputable dog bloggers and professionals have the balls to say that a dog only costs $27 per month.
In this week's episode, Courtney calls BS and goes over all of the hidden expenses that add up each month.
Some on these hidden expenses include:
-finding the RIGHT walking gear (not one size fits all)
-midday help (dog walkers, daycares, paying a friend)
-flea meds, heart meds, etc can get costly
-common health issues for certain breeds (next episode - How to Pick the Best Dog for Your Lifestyle & Household)
-unexpected health issues or injuries: heart murmurs, thyroid issues, epilepsy, asl tears, etc
-training for weird habits: chasing lights, obsessive licking, extreme separation anxiety, food aggression
-training tools like special collars, shorter leashes, clickers and pet correctors, etc
-double the cost for traveling (sitters, boarding)
-super picky eaters, sensitive stomachs = special diets
-pet rent is a real thing ya'll!!
-dog proofing: yards, house, crates, gates, trashcans, scratch proof floors and doors, your car
-security cameras for your dog’s safety
-grooming costs for long haired or scruffy dogs
-destructive behaviors can add up!
-unexpected nips and fights with other dogs
-dogs with folds and rolls: special care
-seniors, handicapped, and other special needs dogs aren’t always born special needs
-licensing your dog is the law and is annual!

Getting a dog is a huge life decision and the responsibilities that come along with a dog are commonly underestimated. Today, we discuss all of the questions you should ask yourself to decide whether or not right now is a good time for a dog.
This is a great episode to listen with your kids, spouse, or anyone who lives in your home, because this decision is theirs as well. Plus, you want to make sure you're not the only one doing all the work, because raising puppies takes a village!
Some of the questions we go over are..
-How committed are you? Now versus years from now.
-Are you about to go through a big change? Promotion, move, baby?
-If you work full time are you willing to pay for help?
-Is everyone else you live with on board?
-Are you getting suckered by the kids to finally get a dog?
-Is your lifestyle dog proof or adjustable to fit a dog?
-Can I have a dog where I live? Breed or size restrictions? Think ahead!
-Are you willing to spend money on quality food? Help? Regular check ups? Not just the minimum
& the list goes on!! Tune in for more!

Now that I'm a grown ass adult, I'm starting to realize how much of an affect my childhood has had on me. Even though I love my upbringing and wouldn't change it for the world, I now recognize how much my parent's external words became my internal voice.
So today we're chatting about how we can be a better communicator to preteens, teenagers and pretty much anyone who's going through a difficult season.
I shine a light on vulnerable youth in this episode, so tune in to see how you can intentionally communicate with preteens and teenagers who are going through the foster care system, adoptions, abuse, neglect, depression and/or anxiety.
The topic for this week has been foster care and adoption since I was recently on the Wife of the Party Podcast talking about my personal adoption experience. If you guys checked that out, you already know that I've played a huge role in raising my little sister. So when things got difficult for her I reached out to the only expert I knew, Raquel Perez, to see what she thinks I should do.
Raquel and I have been friends for 15 years and within months she'll officially be a social worker! We had a full blown amazing conversation that I so wish I recorded for you guys, but instead I took notes and shared my take of our chat. Read more of Raquel's story and her mission with foster youth in the link below.

Tony and I just celebrated our 5 year anniversary so we did a special episode together all about our experience when we first moved in together years ago.
We had a great chat about moving in with someone who's never had dogs before, because spoiler alert.. Tony met me when I already had THREE dogs and he's never had a dog of his own before.
So we go all over the place in this one and really chat about a lot of different living situations. So whether you live with your boyfriend, girlfriend, spouse, friend, family, whoever.. this ones for you as long as a dog (or five) are involved haha.
Here's a list of some of the things we chat about. Make sure to tune in for all the good stuff:
How to deal with helicopter moms, paranoid or anxious dog parents and/or dog parents who are too chill about important things.
What to do if your partner is struggling to connect with the dog.

Tune it to hear all about how I got all five of my dogs (along with my rabbits, guinea pigs and chickens, too!) without ever waking up and planning to get a pet. Here's to a rescue story that's definitely not your average!
Overthinking and pushing off decision making was the #1 thing that drained me of all of my energy last year. It’s what made me feel less present than I’ve ever felt, it made me anxious and stressed because I was overthinking way too many things (which drains so much mental energy) and it made me push off so many things in life and business simply because I let fear and being too passive get in my way.
As you’ve heard me say many times, our energy speaks louder than our words and our actions to our dogs. So if I'm feeling distracted and I’m overthinking a decision over a long period of time I'm likely also feeling other feels like frustration, anxiety, helplessness, exhaustion..
All of those feelings are picked up by our dogs. So when were trying to be their pack leader, but we actually feel off then were sending mixed messages to our dogs.
